batemans bay south coast nsw did not think repco or those type of shops would supply r33 parts |

i managed to fix a headgasket on my L18 with minimal mechanical experience first car age 16:P not quite the same as a newer engine, but just followed the manual step by step, hope this gives you some confidence! |

ebay will def. be the cheapest option for the gaskets.. Repco can source the vrs kit needed but cost big $$ (around the $500 mark retail) cheapest ive seen http://www.kudosmotorsports.com/catalog ... p-439.html and its genuine Nissan also, which is always a + imo doing the head on a rb25det is quite a bit trickier than an L series, I'd recommend taking it to a shop and getting it done, it will be well over a 1k to get it done properly. |

thanks for your info sw motorsports has them for a decent price but im still a little hesitant taking on a job this size with no experience |

The difference between an L18 engine and a Twin cam RB25 is a lot more complicated, but also easier as well in some ways. But don't do it if your not handy with the tools. You could land yourself in a bit more trouble than you first thought. If you do know marginally what you're doing then get a mate who's a bit of a mechanic (or at least competent in following engine manuals) and have a stab at it . Mark the timing belt on all the cogs with Whiteout before you take it off and that'll give you an idea of where they line up when you put it back together to get your timing correct. Will probably have marks on the Cam gears and belt anyway. Then make sure you get the head faced, and tighten the head up in the correct bolt pattern to make sure you don't warp the head. You'll need access to a good quality torque wrench (don't skimp here) and if you have questions ask. But its not impossible to do it yourself. Especially if you want to save the cash. |

remove 25 and install fresh neo 25t no seriously... i'd hit up the sau site for some help or to recommend a reputable workshop near you. the rb25det is not "unfamiliar" territory anymore and even repco stock the parts. a workshop specialising in this could bung out a headjob (no pun intended) in a few days - the cost is there but it is done properly and will sav you more time and money later on in the long run. but also could be as something as simple as a pinhole leak in a hose, or radiator |
