putting my fmic on with outlets on the bottom, made the whole front end alot stiffer. My engineer loved it.
Better then the .2mm front factory metal anyways

I'd love to Baz, it's a great bit of kit but $1100 is a fair bit of coin compared to an N13 setup. I'm not comparing the quality and/or performance of the two by any means, don't get me wrong, but for my low-kw street application I might be able to get away with something more budget. I'll count my pennies next year and see what I've got to play with.

I don't really understand the core size thing someone metntioned up there before, 2 small cores that are the same size as 1 large core still equals the same ammount of cooling area.
Yes it'll have more lag and pressure drop and whatnot, but i don't reckon you'll ever notice the difference out in the real world on the road.

And +1 to doing one that requires no or very minimual hacking!

Go have a look on SAU and see how many guys are running their coolers using the factory holes on the one side for legal reasons, there are no differences in lag/efficiency etc.

Racepace Benno who is a legend if you havent heard of him, had no issues with this set up, i had this very discussion with him in person, he never saw any disadvantage.

Anth, DR30s had an intercooler setup similar to what you are initially proposing from factory. I don't have any pictures but you could ask on FJ20.com. maybe someone would even have some original parts they want to get rid of? Just a thought, would certainly be different. I guess it depends how much boost you want to run and how much power you want to make.

With regards to flipping the intercooler so that the outlets are at the top, that is what I did on my FJ 200B, and it worked really well. No lag, no hacking and very short piping :D

Hi Pimp - you say you originally mounted your Intercooler with outlets at top instead of bottom. Mind telling me what radiator you were using at the time if you recall. Reason I ask is my son
is currently looking at doing just that with his 1600 fj20 and we are hunting for best options at the moment and the previous owner has already made the holes for the intercooler but no radiator to go
with it. Any info you can provide would be much appreciated.

Regards Phil
