Has anyone ever used Brembo Calipers on their 1600?

I plan to do a front and rear caliper upgrade and want something a little different to the Nissan Sumitomos. The upgrade would need to suit R31 based strut fitted to a 1600.

Yes, I know it would be overkill.

Please keep this thread on topic to just Brembo caliper upgrades.

Has anyone done this or know much about it (fitment, types of brembo calipers, wheel fitments, caliper adaptor brackets...etc)?

Thanks in advance.

What size disk do you want to run?

I'd ideally like to fit 16" wheels over the calipers, so I think that would be my limiting factor. (I assume something around the common 296mm disks would be suitable).

If you are after a disk that is used with brembo's for example, I think the 350Z track spec uses brembo's and therefore uses a 320mm disk. You'd need at least 17's to run these though.
You can always put a brembo logo on your sumitomo's?

I'm seeing my brother in the next day or two, I can check out his 350Z if I remember. He has the "Track" version with Brembo's.

The "Track" version has bigger 18" wheels - not sure if that's needed to clear the brakes though ?

Hahaha love the humour on these forums ;-) Some may call it "wank factor" as i've heard uttered from a famous man once before ;-)

Yes, there are quite a few types of brembos but it seems the easiest ones to get are the WRX STI, 350z brembos and Jap spec GTR brembos.

My interest is the caliper mounting points. A custom bracket would likely need to be made... or maybe not, depending on which car the brembos are sourced from.

Hmm I suppose its not feasible to run smaller discs than 320mm as the calipers weren't designed for the smaller diameter?

Yes you have to be careful running smaller disks.
Try and run as close to factory.

Yeah the Porsche calipers are another way to go.. I have no doubt the Sumitomo's are ample. If anyone has any pics of a Brembo upgrade being done please include here... or knows someone who knows someone who... :-)

They are easy to find, but its about getting the eye to eye mounting distances right to be able to use... and probably the positioning over the disc correct too..

Mario at TSR in California does awesome Brembo packages.
4 pot, 6 pot 290 - 350mm.
His smaller package may fit under your 16s.
Not sure about the R31 strut though. They use different struts on their cars.

But do you know how to contact them, and where do you get a list of parts that they sell.
