I had the same rust on the strut tower at the bottom....strange spot... Great work, whole thing looks fantastic

Accel cable/linkage holes? or a drive by wire conversion? ;)

Cheers,

Trent

Thanks mate.
Yeah deffinately an odd spot to rust. I put it down to someone along the way putting a self tapper there, and it just rusted around it. I had a good look down both the rails and that was the only spot.

With the throttle, I'm definatly going cable. I'm going to try and run a cable of a camry across the inside of the firewall and come out behind the head so it nice and hidden. Camry cables have a nice tight metal 90 straight off the throttle body, so the 90 will go at the pedal end. Its going to take some mods to fit it behind the pedal though. It should work

I hate drive by wire with a passion. I like to feel the butterflies open under my foot.

Why not just grab any throttle cable from any other car without the 90deg bend Trav. Like the 180sx one and grab the plate that it bolts to and make that fit instead? Wouldn't that be so much simpler.

Well yesterday i put down a deposit on an L20b stroker package that was just to good to pass up.
I wasnt really looking for another engine, i just stumbled across it looking at the forums while my wife was driving us down the coast.
So it's an L20b stroked out to 2.4l, lightened flywheel, heavy duty clutch, twin 45 webbers, big bore extractors, 2.5 inch exhaust, 5 speed skyline box, tripple core radiator, electronic dizzy. Dyno'd at 160hp at the wheels, all built by Mick king.
So im a very happy boy at the moment :D

So i think im going to sell off all the parts that i gathered to build up the l18 i was planning to use.

Ross, the webbers have a cable setup in the middle of them, so the whole cable situation is going to be a nice easy one to overcome.

Ahh ok. I saw that old engine of Micks. I don't know much about it. Next time I see Mick or Jas I'll ask them. Of its Daves old rally engine from his 200b then I've seen that thing on full noise and its a weapon.

Apparently it was built a few years ago to the same specs as one of the king boys cars. It's done approximately 1200kms since the build up. I was thinking of going for a drive to there shop one day during the week to find out some info on it, the current owner can't tell me exactly what cam etc is in it. Doesn't really bother me to much, as its the quickest L powered car I've been in before!

Yeah mate, I've done a fair bit to it since the last post. I currently don't have a computer, and I don't know how to get pics on here off my phone.
I've run all new brake lines, fitted up all the steering gear, painted up the engine and box and dropped it in the hole. I spent last weekend painting up the inlet side of things, I also had my extractors ceramic coated during the week so this weekend il be making a manifold gasket and bolting the carbs and exhaust up.
Il try and get some pics up over the weekend of the progress ive made.
