The name on the grille says it all.

I can't believe how similar the 230 front on this looks compared to a PA10 early Stanza.

Your grille and headlight surrounds look like they are lining up nicely! I think the problem with the 260c grille is that its plastic and it moves vertically with age as the plastic becomes flexible, making those top and bottom chrome inserts move and then make the headlight surrounds harder to line up properly...

PS I like your grille better

I like the look of this though, even though it's without the headlights, would be very tough looking!

I may still do this as I have enough parts left over!

I've done some work on my radiator today. I'm using a 16 inch fan with a Wezspec custom fab shroud. Still need to work on where I'll put the overflow bottle and do some wiring for the thermostat.....little stuff.

Did the old 'try and test the fan with the burning ciggy" trick and have given myself the worst friggin headache....filled the garage with that sh*t........and I'm an ex smoker! Even worse. (next time I'll have to find something better to burn :giggle: ) OMG. Works good though if somewhat noisy and draws 12 amps. The instal sheet recommends a 20 amp fuse. I'll go with that.

Picked up a great relay from jaycar. It has a fuser built into it...designed for a horn setup but the relay won't care. I've never seen one like that before, totally awesome, saves having to wire in a fuse.

:cheers

Is the fan designed to be on all the time? or at a certain temp range?

Hey there Mag86!

The Electric fan and temperature setup on my white car works very well, so the setup for the coupe is almost identical.

The switching on and off of the fan is done via a little thermostat switch that you can buy at Jaycar. It's a normally open switch and rated at 70 degrees celcius and I think its used to switch on and off little computer fans in computers. It works great and it's cheap, a few bucks only. This switches a relay as the current capacity of the thermostat switch isn't high enough to run the fan reliably.

This time I'll be using two thermostat switches. One, like on the white car, is positioned high near the top radiator tank, drivers side. The second one will be positioned low. At one stage the engine got too hot because the coolant level was too low. The second thermostat is a backup for whenever the coolant level is too low for the upper one to trigger the fan on. They are wired in parallel with each other.

Mounting the little bastards has had its moments. My radiator is 50mm thick and the longest 1/8th bolts I could find is 50mm. I decided that the nylon radiator support ties that were in the box with the new radiator fan are just meant for the job....perfect.

sweet :cheers

haha, i've been flat out trying to get through the term at uni. the 260c is at the mechanics. the electrical issue is sorted so it has headlights now. It should be going on the dyno this week or next aiming for 250rwkw on 16pound boost. also waiting on my rechromed bumpers to come back.

any updates on the coupe?

Dropped in some suspension bits, the front and rear springs and some swaybars, the rear is stock but the front bar is even larger than the wagon one at 24mm's :) It's lowered and sits quite nicely now and it's all made by JumboZ for Daves now deceased 230 sedan. That car handled well but didn't have the rear sway bar. I'm wondering how much of a difference there will be with it? Koni special D's front and rear.

I was going to upgrade the rear brakes to 430 series discs but I'm holding off on that upgrade for the short term. They need some work and I don't need any more holdups at this point as I'm looking forward to getting the car ready for the Datsun Day at Prospect Hotel in November. Needless to say there are new wheel cylinders and brake shoes and a general clean up and inspection of all that rear end stuff.

The fuel system is happening right now and I'm wondering how best to bend my 3/8 replacement fuel line. The pipe bender just kinks the rotten thing, I'm wondering if a blow torch will work the best here...ideas or suggestions are most welcome. The other thought I had is to just run a 3/8 inch EFI hose from the tank to the engine, protected by electrical conduit 20mm plastic pipe..... :?: Dunno, its not a huge hurdle but it's one I need resolved.

Ideas and recommendations on the fuel setup are most welcome.

Thanks. :)

Yeah, rear sway bar will make a hell of a difference to the way the rear-end behaves.

I've driven cars without front swaybars and stuffed shocks etc, and they handle like a bag of piss to be fairly accurate.

Eh, no ideas for the fuel line bud. Possible to get a professional to do it for you? Fuel lines are a tad critical - Most people get a bit wary on the topic.

Ive bent tube by filling with sand, and then crimping the ends. Hit with blowtorch and it all heats up, sand helps retain heat and also heats evenly to stom cracks.
then bend slowly.
let cool with only one of the crimps in vice/bulldog clip so it cools evenly and no hot or cold spots.
cut crimped ends, empty sand, clean out then you have a nice little bend.
this wond be much help if you want it all one piece, but for idividual bends its pretty easy for the ghetto trolls to hack together!

Mitch.....thanks for the compliments mate. Seems we want what the other doesn't have, it's always the way isn't it?

There are bound to be some 430's in wrecking yards up your way. I'll let you know if I find any and I'll talk to Pete, he may know where there are more. I got my set from him.

The suspension isn't stock ride height, it's lowered and it looks sick as 8) I'll post some pics tomorrow in the light to give you some idea.

That 24mm bar has proven to be a bit of a pain. I don't have bushes that fit properly so the 23mm bar remains for the moment. The 230 is much lighter than the 330 so I think it should be ok up front. Someone else has dibs on my front bar. Take your stocker into a suspension place and get them to make you a thicker one, as an option. (Or just say "I want it now!" and it's yours, the 24mm one)

Thanks everyone who gave suggestions for the fuel line and stuff, too. :)
