Great build thread ozconnection.

I'm currently helping my Dad rebuild one of his 240C Coupes and we're having difficulty sourcing upper and lower ball joints. I can see new uppers in one of your pics.
Wondering if you could pass on any info on where to buy these?

Also stumped on the brakes, your look great but we want to keep all original, at this stage its looking like we need to get 240Z rotors re-drilled but I'm worried about the lack of meat once that's done.

Cheers,
Rhys

Hey Rhys, you will struggle to get lower joints. Nissan no longer has them anywhere. You can try this place
http://www.japanautomobileparts.com/555 ... 69-310775/

but i doubt they have them in stock.

If you want to keep it as original as possible, get ball joints to suit the 330/720 and get your front axles reamed out to suit.

Im 99% sure these will fit your upper joints
http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/upper-ba ... bj205.html

If you can wait until about the end of march i will be back in mackay and can measure them. I have a pile of 130/230/330 axles. Also a set of front discs that you can have.

You can get 230 lower balljoints

http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f123842197

I avoided this problem however by using a spare, complete 330 front crossmember on my 230 coupe.

I already had spares for my 280C 330, so it made sense to use all the same suspension bits for both of my machines.

Fletch's solutions are also valid. Now you must decide which way to go. :)

Ebay is your friend for brakes....

For me, the most valuable upgrade for stock brakes is pad material, like these

Hi Guys,

I appreciate the replies.

I've tried the BJ205 uppers and they don't fit. At this stage Fletch your offer is sounding good, would be handy if you could measure and let me know what bits you may be able to help with when your back in Mackay.

Ozconection, RDA no longer make any disc for the 240C which I've have confirmed through a couple of different sources after I bought a pair of std one on eBay and paid only to be told they're no longer made, so I dare say that listing would be the same.
Whats involved in the 333 cross-member swap, how much is interchangeable?

Thanks,
Rhys

How can they advertise rotors for sale and not actually have them? WTF

Did you actually try the link to ebay I gave you in the previous post? It says they have five!

Nothing is really interchangeable without work between the two crossmembers. The 330 crossmember bolts straight into the 230 chassis. That was the hardest thing and that wasn't very hard at all....easy in fact!

I've emailed them and asked them to confirm. Will let you know the outcome.

So if using a 330 Crossmember, then all the rest of suspension, axles, brakes etc come from 330 also and it bolts right in?

Ok, the eBay seller was helpful and actually suggested this site for possible ideas for upgrades but rotors are not actually available in any format to suit 240C, so he has removed all ads.

I will post in a new thread as I don't want to skew the topic on your great build thread ozconnection.

Thanks all.

Rhys

Hi guys,

I have noticed also though - the 230's have 2 pot front callipers and the 330's have single pot.

I dont know if the 2 pots are so much better that you would keep them though.

Also if you dont have power steering in the 230 - wack the 330 P/S box and column etc in at the same time.

Oh bum....my coupe broke down today. :(

Diagnosis...dead starter motor. Solenoid works perfectly. There have been a few instances where the motor hasn't cranked over but I didn't think too much of it because the same thing has been happening in the white car for years!

Lucky for me, it was just around the block and my son James and some random dude helped to give me a push start and back home he is!

Ebay to the rescue with a new L28 Hi-power starter, 1.4kw's verses 0.9 says the ad. I'm happy if it works!! (Being new with a 2 year warranty is nice)

Dave is keen to help me out in the short term with his spare. :cheers

Megasquirt is testing my patience. The reason I needed my starter was that it stalled as I was going around the block and couldn't restart it and I was at the bottom of the hill. I'm going to reflash everything and start fresh one more time...... :x Dare I say it...if it doesn't get itself together....and I want to take it to PI.....it might just get a Holley back on it for the trip down there.

Darn shame to hear you're not having too much luck with the control system. Good luck mate.

Keen as to see the beast
