I've contacted shox.com about the Konis and they've offered them for $ 184.00 ea plus shipping which is about $100. This works out to be $ 468 a pair including postage.
I'm going to order some in the next few weeks. Just wondering if anyone else wants them while I'm at it.
Thought it'd save someone the hassle of tracking them down and getting quotes etc, plus who knows, they may do a better price for several pairs. I'm sure it'll at least save on postage.
I also asked them for a price for the TRD adjustable rears which they couldn't get, but they did offer me these:
"We can get 16 way adjustable Tokico rear short stroke(HTS102R) for the AE86 for $145.00 ea"
Anyone used them on their 1600? Or heard anything about them?

Gravedigging an old thread. Got a set of Koni's to throw into the R31 struts, nut that comes with the Koni's has too coarse a thread to screw into the R31 strut. Standard R31 nut looks like it needs a fair bit of modding to make it fit. What's the solution everyone's using ?

I just put some z31 koni's in a 55mm 260z strut. I had to machine the inside of the standard datsun strut/gland nut to suit the top of the konis on the lathe.
I also have two sets of nuts that came with the konis. Maybe a set of those will fit you stuts. Your welcome to try. Both wouldnt fit my 55mm strut.

Hi Lampy, the nuts that came with my Koni's were the wrong thread pitch. If you can check what you have, pretty sure I'm chasing a M48x1 thread on the nut.

Ok, more oddities.
Chased down some more R31 struts as the one's I had were a bit worn on the bearing area.
These are meant to be from a skyline, the other's were from a Pintara (I think). Looked to be all good once I pulled them apart, so cut the spring seats off and prepped them for coilovers. Turns out the thread in the top of the tube is coarser than the other one's I own and now the Koni retaining nuts screw in, sweet ! But... the inserts don't fit in the tubes ... what ?
They go damn close, and perhaps a flap wheel down inside would take out enough meat. Just seem's odd that I'm having all these issues and most other people just bolt them in and away they go.
The only thing odd about these new legs is they're stamped with Monroe (probably Aus manufacture) and they had red coloured inserts in them, don't know if that means anything.

From memory mine were stamped with Monroe. But they slid in with no problems what so ever.

Yeah, figured the Monroe stamping was probably legit as they would have been Australian built.
Checked the diameter of the inserts that came out, turns out the Koni's are bigger by ~0.5mm or perhaps a bit less. Close enough that I'm going to get a 1-3/4" flapwheel or thereabouts and run it thru the tube soldered onto the end of a bit of tube. Can't be much in the way.
