scotchbrite and plenty of elbow grease should see it happen, with a coat of clear urethane they should last and be easy to clean.

Scotchbrite and plenty of elbow grease? Sorry man but doesn't really let me know much about the process. lets say they're taped up and in primer. What do you do next?

Well I went to go and swap the rear suspension today, forgot my keys are on my skyline keyring which is at a tuners. So I took my head back to my place to give it a good clean up. Came out well, need to change atleast one of the valves out. Need to swap the cam out bloke I bought this head off told me it was "Cammed up" But it's got a trunk puller car in it. May have been reground not sure. Got a crow 460 in my original head possibly going to throw this in. Or get the another cam.

okay, i essentially meant polishing them with scotchbrite, however if you have them in primer, then i would find a matt silver spray the wheels and then while wet gently wipe the paint in a direction that would make it look like they were machined that way.
i have done it before but i cant find any photos.

Well I finally got off my arse and did some work today! Thanks to the boys I wouldn't of had the confidence to it solo but it was easier then I remembered. New head on! Painting time tomorrow through Weber n extractors on properly n start to reassemble the accessories.

Started looking like this.

The bloke I bought it off said thirty thousand ago the block was re-ringed. I don't know for sure but cross hatching still on bores and after market head gasket n the fact it only took ten minutes to scrape clean I'd say it's freshish.

Tadaaahhhh should go alright. Sooner or later I will build a plenum and it's going an sc14.

Next steps, buying everything steering related baz can get his hands on bar the pump. Install those and my front struts. Put the new master cylinders in and then finish taping the engine bay and spray it all.

I have a long bluey 5 speed but nothing with it, I'll ask in transmission section but if anyone knows what else I need going froma complete 4 sp 180b set up let me know.

does the 180b have a long box?
if so you wont need anything, just direct bolt on.
Otherwise you will need a shortened tailshaft

Yeah pretty sure the 180b has a long box.

DRiPproject
I'm looking at going supercharged so I might want to have as many spare gearboxes as possible. But after the 5 speed conversion and it's all running if I don't want the 4sp I'll let you know.

Howzit man!

No worries , I am one of those readers that do not always post. Most of the time I really like the work done but I feel I bore others by just saying "Good job mate". :D

In your case you are doing better than just a good job, nice detail, and some of my favorite items like sidedraught carburetion. I have a Lynks Manifold that I will use in my L20B'd 160J after I use it with the downdraught 38 DGES for a while. Want to make sure I feel the improvement ( side draught over downdraught.). The 38 DGES synchroneous carby is great so far, I amsure the Dellorto sidedraught on a Lynks cross flow will be better still.

Following in on your car. Want to learn how the set up works.

Next time I take the carby set up apart for the swap I'd like to try the extractor wrap. Is it that effective at diverting heat from the intake/carby parts? It certainly looks great.

Cheers.
