Jesus! Thats bloody keen mate, something I'd do.
Love you work! Bet it doubled the cost of the car to pay for fuel to get it back home uh?

I like to see a man so confident of an old Datto 180BSSS's reliability, he gets in and drives it straight across the continent! Good story.
Looks in good original nick too (except the gearstick, does it connect to a bluebird gearbox)?
Enjoy the ownership!

thanks, the motor was strong as coming across, never doubted the datto would make it.
was pretty good on fuel as it had the long diff in, now its home diffs out and the 720 short diff
going in, should be good, then some 45 webers should liven things up.
have pulled the gearbox aswell and it is a bluebird box(written on side in texta)
pics as is this week

headlight issues, passangers side works hi beam, but nothing drivers side

might have to get a lightened flywheel aswell, hhhmmm

original diff, r180 720 diff yeah!

Dont ditch those SUs, or especially that orange filter box ($$).
ALL of your parts are extremely rare nowadays

Nice 180 Bee. It looks straight, no rust, no beat body. Excellent potential. What is the plan, stocker?, road performance? Rallye off road?

Cheers.

i found the car on here, plans are to make it a fast streeter, maybe some track days
am trying to source some american tail-lights, a chin spoiler like the bob sharp car
just brought some fender mirrors, need to repaint, will have to wait a bit for funding
will stick with original color

Those lamps have all red lenses in the US, and orange lense for the signal lense ( one of the three lenses per side.) in Japan.

If going through Japan, what about the tail light set up Dough has in his Douglasamills 180B sedan!

That is my all time favorite.

Cheers.

Great stuff!
I'm wondering about the oil cooler in one of the photos. How came? My turbo SSS never gets the oil hot enough to need a cooler in the street.

oilcooler was fitted when i bought the car, nice little extra
i was told the motor has flat top pistons, ported and polished head
big valves, definiantly has a cam, starts around 3500
was told it needed twin 45s to get the most from the engine.
