Great to see another 180B SSS getting some love!

Looks real clean! I think that is the color mine is meant to be but mine is more of a greenish color, I thinks its called 121B Turquoise Blue or something like that???

Also I've noticed something weird with the front strut tops on your car, seems like they have tried to do a bit of a DIY wheel alignment and camber rectifying job by drilling extra holes....

will stay tuned and see the progress...

Alex

year the guy fitted 240k front struts, and i noticed that hes redrilled the holes with extra camber
still not enough. the paint code is 121 as you say still has the sticker under the bonnet.
just pulled the 720 diff apart and the crown wheel and pinion are fubar, dont know what to do
now, maybe look for subi diff.

Looks like he used the K strut tops which have a different bolt pattern to the 1600/180B strut tops. That's why he had to redrill the strut tower. With standard diameter springs you can't get a decent amount of negative camber by moving the strut tops inwards, there's no room.
If you want negative camber you need to either move the bottom of the struts out with longer (ideally adjustable) lower control arms and castor rods or use smaller diameter springs and adjustable strut top mounts to move the top of the struts in. The right front castor & camber transforms the way a Datsun handles (3 degrees castor, 1.5 degrees negative camber for the street works great).
Hope this helps.

Cheers.

You'll need adjustable castor rods as well. I use modified LJ Torana rods. Used to be cheap & easy to grab a pair from the wreckers and get an engineering place to extend the threads. Some people prefer to use XE Falcon rods with the ends re forged, but in over 20 years of use the LJ rods have been fine for me.

Nice work.

For the rear discs, using 200SX parts? About the rear crossmember, some photos would be great when available.

Doug's 180B has a very cool tail light assembly ( off of a 2000GT 6 cyl 180B sibling ). In Japan those two tail lamp styles were available ( US and 2000GT.) From this side of the Pacific, the 2000GT tail lamp assembly is the most sought for.

Do you know if Datsport has the half shaft boots available? Mine have gone stale and dry from having my car on jack stands for too long.

I would like to get one of those slotted crossmember bars myself. Got to check into that one.

:cheers

here are of the disc conversion (at last), i said they were 240k disc and calipers but now i've had a good look i think
they might be from something else (anybody know maybe?). Its a real simple conversion with a backing plate that bolts
the calipers on.

Looks like the usual R31 Skyline rear disc conversion. It's a good thing, well proven and improved the braking on my SSS. What about the handbrake? Does it have a trans tunnel mounted lever like a 200B or Skyline?

Your SSS is coming along nicely. Well done!

Hi Nisman.

Nice rear disc set up. We did not get the Skyline series over here. What we usualy use is the Nissan/Datsun 200SX's. I will get photos when I get back, also out of town until late Feb.

Noiccce project !
