OK so starting this thread sort of half way through, i had another one joined with my 180b but decided the 1600 deserves its own one!!
Ok so were starting at the stage where the car has been stripped of EVERYTHING and has just had the underneath sandblasted aswell as the engine bay,
trust me i know all the problems with sandblasting so lets not get into that :P

It came back worse then i hoped but better then i expected with a few rust holes here and there underneath,

But heres some pictures to give you an idea

will try and dig up some old pictures eventually, the plan so far is L18 carby turbo elec dizzy ect ect, all the generic datsport upgrades, (suspension brakes) eventually but want to get it running first.
with a datsun lightblue metallic paint job!

good work, your pretty safe sand blasting the bay and under body, it only gets a bit hit and miss doing large panels like bonnet, roof etc. are you going to get the rest soda blasted? also did your underbody have any of that underbody spray thats like tar, rubberised etc on it prior to being blasted? keep up the good work

also theres a cheap SR forsale in the forsale section :giggle: :giggle:

yeah, the rust is a pain but its only really the inner rear guards and a bit under the drivers side wheel arch, so i can't complain too much really, at least i dont have to replace and of the floor pan or anything :)

Oh! you haven't lived until you've replaced the floor pan!

Great work Jack. Are you going to smooth out the entire engine bay?

Cheers,

Trent
