Next on the list is to fix up the inner part of the front fenders as when I masked off to paint the engine bay some of the purple paint came off guess it never got sanded properly beforehand and there is some tiny overspray so just going tidy up with some gloss black purely for asthetics.

Cheers Anth nothing is being left untouched. The last thing I need to get off the old shell is the steel fuel lines so hopefully get that done in the next week or so then I'm going to start tidying up the engine while it's out of the car.

Hey everyone got a bit done over easter not much though. Ive painted the inside of the front fenders and came up great more than happy with the result there. I also took advantage of the decent weather and removed the fuel lines from the old car and was much easier than I thought as everything is starting to be maybe im getting some mechanical experience up haha. Only got them off though havent sorted out on the purple car yet it will be the last thing to do before the FJ goes in. Im not one to be pulling the engine in and out a million times. So before the FJ goes in it will get a good clean up to how I want. Most of it is all still in excellent condition just needs a good clean an maybe some touch ups with paint here and there. At this point 95% of the gearbox has been steel wheeled and ready for paint which I will do while hanging in the air with the crane. But before I crane it up I thought it may be easier with the intake manifold removed so I removed that and decided to clean it up. When I first built my other car I was much younger and immature and chose to paint rocker cover and intake yellow haha yuck so the intake is now painted in VHT aluminium and the rocker cover will be VHT gloss black but ill do that once its in the car to avoid scratches.

Here is some before pics

While I had the manifold stripped and all apart I when through my boxes of parts ive been collecting for years. I had a chromed fuel rail which I think I got off someone from ozdat. I also bought some bigger 550cc injectors of a guy on ebay he kindly gave me the whole set up fuel rail and all which made my job a simple swap over.

Heres all 3 together old, chrome and larger injectors

Been a while since my last update. Ive been hard at work with a tooth brush and brake cleaner on my FJ20 cleaning it all up. The front cover was caked in rubber from the belt wearing out when my harmonic balencer bushing gave way. So ive detailed all the engine exept the rocker cover and its ready to go in. I polished up the FJ20 tag and radiator hose elbow thing. Touched up the block in gloss black, sprayed the gearbox aluminum and gave the exhaust manifold a coat of cast iron high temp paint came up awsome compared to what it was. Repainted engine mount brackets and plenty of other little fiddly things. Been messing around with a mesh headlight cover for when I want to remove the high beam for a bit more air flow also should look sweet. Will prob get tomorow off work with the rain and ill finally get the fuel lines under the car its all jacked up and ready to go for them. Today I dropped the bonnet, boot and door latches, Headlight mounts and bezels and the bonnet hinges to get replated so should get them back by the end of the week cant wait to see how they turn out been meaning to get these all done for a while now. Not many pics but heres a couple.

Cheers Mick.

Well at 11am I received a call your parts are ready I was quite suprised how quick they were done as when I dropped them off they were flat out. Here are the results im very happy indeed. I got every thing done in yellow exept the bonnet hinges I got done in silver and they came up great as I stripped them back to bare metal and cleaned them up myself. They cleaned everything for me just needed to get off the paint myself. Didnt get time to do the fuel lines but hopefully I will over the next few days. Im doing some big hours at work so its hard and im also working all long weekend up at Newcastle but ill have next tuesday off so ill get them done then. Enjoy cheers Mick.

Sucsessful end to the week fuel lines are in and done. Which now means I can drop in the FJ now :cheers

Started putting all the newly plated parts back onto the car and installed the headlights which is basically all I can do till I get the engine in.

Cheers mate the headlights are just some cheapies I got of eBay a few years back. See how they go if they are any good or not. Easy fix if they suck.

Engine is in!!! I used an engine leveler for the first time ever and wow what an amazing tool. Took our time with it and managed zero damage and zero scratches. The 180B bay is obviously alot bigger than a 510 but its still pretty tight. Decided to remove rocker cover to give a bit more room as it usually fouls where the fire wall is pressed together when on the angle. Went in perfect its now all bolted to engine mounts and gearbox crossmember is on. So now finally after a few years all the good stuff can start getting bolted on. A little bit more painting and cleaning to go but not much.
