Nice work. Are you considering doing early SSS instrument covers at all? Ive been looking for a early style 4 hole cover for my 68 510 but prices are insane, even just for a cover without the guages. Im told 68 and 69 SSS dashes are different and obviously 69 on are very different again. I have considered making one as I have the tools to do it but im struggling to find an original.

You mentioned scanning earlier on can I ask what equipment your using to do the scanning side of things? Does this give you a solid model or just data to create a model?
Hi RAT510,

Thanks mate, i have had the SSS cluster in mind, but its on the back burner at the moment. need to sell a few more dash consoles :)

As for the scanning, my contact is using the ATOS system, basically one of the best in market and produces high quality scan data. probably overkill for what i'm after. the scan produces a point cloud which is millions of points that match the scanned surface. the scan data or point cloud is then imported into a CAD system and modelled from there.

PM me if you want more details.

Hi All,

I'm getting some interest in a double-din version and want to see what interest there is here in Aus.

Anyone keen for one? If I can get 6 or 7 people in I will do a short run but pricing will be around the $250 mark due to the tooling/shipping costs.

Anyone interested at this price?

thanks for the reply. thats interesting, im pretty sure that we were recommended GOM ATOS by someone else also. i will soon have access to a 3d printer and im just trying to find out what most people use regarding the scanning side of things.

There's heaps of scanners out there and prices range from ~$500 to ~$300K. Really depends on what you want it to do.
I've done a fair amount of research on them, PM me if you want more info.
what sort of 3D printer are you getting your hands on?

I'm interested to see how it would look if you have pics. Would the gauges be in the same spot or shifted to the bottom?

Here's a pic of the design - no gauges though - won't fit with double din.

gauges only come with the single din version.

also note the only thing to be careful with is the units with the fold up screens. most will clear the top lip, but check with me first before committing to buying. I can't practically check every unit on the market so please contact me first.

I'll let this go till next Wednesday, and i'll push the button on the order & post it up on the website.

Hey Nik, I had a guy in USA install a Nexus 7 in behind this with a little modification. I'm going to email him and see how he's progressed. there's a couple of apps that you can get with Android to hook up with an aftermarket computer to get read outs similar to the GTR. It sounds like a lot of work figuring it out, but it'd be worth it..
