$680 is a hefty price multiplied by 3 cars on the road and the missus only has one.
Is Club reg with 3-4 different clubs throughout the year possible?

Don't see why not? You'd only need one club membership if they're all your cars, but you could only drive those cars for 90 days each.

I came to the same conclusion (about club reg on all your cars) once....and then i wished i lived somewhere i could use it!
If you insure your car as an occasional use vehicle (NRMA will let you do it on cars over a certain age...and all the cars i own are that old) you can get comprehensive insurance for a fraction the price as well.
4 cars for the price of 1!
Love it, now bring it to NSW.....

Question for anyone on these plates with NDSOC, do they have a waiting period from join date to when your eligible for plates?
Some clubs seem too, was just wondering.

Those rules are club specific... I joined a non anal retentive sport club. No min meetings or silly rules. As long as rev and safe and legal all good. That's what its about

I know that the TCCAV for example has a 3-month waiting period, but do their own safety inspections. So a mix of bad and good.

No most genuine enthusiats are just that.. genuine enthusiasts. and we respect that. our preference happens to be that we want the genuine enthusiasts to be participate in the club

but like you say, there are plenty of options out there to suit all needs.

So in the next couple of years S13 Silvia's and R32 Skyline's will be eligible for club rego, along with many other late 80's cars. Do you guys think this will change the perception of the scheme at all? I'm not trying to pigeonhole guys that drive those cars (I'd love to own either of them), but I'm just wondering if these 'newer classics' will make cops pay a bit more attention to cars with these plates.

Also, I've noticed a lot of people (mainly younger guys) have a distorted perception about these permits. There are a lot of people who think there is a different set of rules for us, that you can do more mods and not get defected, kind of like an immunity.

I had thought the same thing Anth. As of this year many classics such as EA Falcons and VN Commodores are eligible for historic rego. Where do you draw the line though? Ten-fifteen years ago something like an XB Falcon wouldn't have been considered a 'classic' car, neither most Datsuns probably, but now they're exactly the cars that are going on club registration. Where do you draw the line?

I would draw the line at calling an EA Falcon a "classic"
