that colour scheme is cool, im sure you could find a way to detail the wheels with the red as opposed to painting them??

I was thinking maybe just a red pin stripe around the lip of the wheel at least it will be something.

Well its been a while since I have posted.
Just been doing boring jobs (rust removal and repair)
I have removed all seam sealer in the body then removed any rust that was under it. I then sealed it with a rust converter/sealer
I finished removing everything in the engine bay and also removed all the rust. Most of it was surface.

The top radiator support has been a nightmare it is full of holes from rust, I have started welding them all up, It is slow going :s
Before

After (most of them welded now have to grind all the welds back
[ img ]

I have given the brake booster a birthday and also picked up a new 7/8th Inch master cylinder.

Also gave the steering box a lick of paint
[ img ]

Cleaned and sand blasted the head, ready for porting
[ img ]

Thats as far as I have got in the past few weeks doesn't look like much but a lot of hours to get there

Well I got sick of body work at the moment I thought Id move on to some mechanical work.
The engine is mostly pulled down now.
I thought i would put the flywheel on a diet. Started around 11.5Kg now 7.1Kg
about 7 hours machining the flywheel I ended up with this.

I purchased some window tinting cheap with one of those spreets vouchers online. Only catch is that I had to book in before 15th October.
So the 200b is booked in next Wednesday the 10th :s heaps of work to do before then
Lucky they said they don't mind that I drop it off on a trailer and they can push it around. They laughed when I asked them.
So I am aiming to have the engine bay painted and all the steering and front end back together before next Wednesday.
Ideally I would have liked to have all the body worked finished before getting the windows tinted, but hey I'm dreaming.

I have rebuilt the struts with new KYB shock inserts. Just waiting on some lowered king springs.

I sand blasted the rotors then machined them.
I also sand blasted the hubs and gave them a lick of paint. New bearings and hub seals should be here friday.

Finally finished getting the engine bay prepped after a long hot day.
Ended up getting the last coat of primer down about 11pm last night.
Aiming to get the color and clear coat done today but its already getting too hot.
I hate body work but love the satisfaction from the finished result, so makes it all worth it.

Got the engine bay painted today
The paint color is a charcoal grey with diamond metallic silver, gold pearl, red pearl and a touch of green pearl.
Unfortunately the gold pearl is a lot stronger in the batch of paint I got mixed up for the engine bay then the sample pot I got mixed up.
So I will have to reduce the amount of gold pearl when I get the 3L to paint the body.
Finished engine bay, So happy this part is done.

My apprentice Milo hard at work as usual, testing the Dato seat for comfort... I think he approves.

Most of the front end bits finished and revamped.

I think Im on track to having the car rolling again for Wednesday to get this windows tinted.

Tonight I got the struts, cross member and control arms bolted in.
I made the fail mistake of putting the hubs back on the struts without bolting the disc rotors to the hubs first :s
Anyway all good now.
Tomorrow night just have to bolt the steering components in and bolt the doors back on.

The 200b went for a trip t the window tinters today :)
Even though it has miss matched doors, missing panels and bare/rusty patches in the body work,
It looks heaps better with the tinted windows.
If your wondering about the yellow doors, they some that bought that have a lot less rust than the original ones.

I also buffed the outside of all the glass this afternoon as there was a LOT of water staining on them. You can see the haziness on the glass in the before pics.
The after pics are with the glass buffed nice and glossy now.
Unfortunately after I did that I noticed that there are some serious scratched in the drivers door. If I had know I would have swapped the glass from the original door before I got it tinted.

Also all the front end is back together, all ball joints have fresh grease and new rubber boots.
Steering box adjusted to get rid of slop in the steering wheel.
