hey guys, thought i would share what may be a bit of a before and after thing rather than a step by step build thread on my 1969 datsun 1000. The 1k has an oval port a14 in it, but other than that is a stock 3 on the tree auto. my plans for the car are to:
do a manual conversion (most parts sourced)
clean the body up (TIME CONSUMING)
fit disks to the front ( originally was going to do some kind of laser conversion then was going to do a sigma 120y hybrid BUT have now decided to go for 31 disks and vs callipers hence the 14s)
koni adjustable front shocks (next on the list)
kyb rear shocks
replace as many bushes as i can find (slowly)
get all the leaves reset
h150 rear diff (work in progress)
ideally have it sitting on 14" watanabes
new carpet (in the mail)
re upholstered front seats (done)
guard mirrors (got them)
once that is done the plan is to keep the a14 and add some twin webers, a cam and all the other usual a series NA goodies.
some photos! i bought another 1000 mainly for panels and the pedal box so between the two i shouldn't have to do heaps of bodywork.
then there is my 120y. It's a stock 1976 model with a borg warner diff and a 60A 4 speed. I bought it as an auto but quickly ditched it. This was/is my first car and has really been a testament to datsun reliability over the years i have daily driven it. Plans for the y are to just enjoy the fuel economy, tiny tyres and the resilient a12. Just until the 1000 is where i want it and then 120y will become the project (thinking na sr20) and the 1000 will assume daily duties.
