hi all, need to transport my 1600 shell ie no wheels or ANYTHING didn't want to ringh a tow truck incase I sounded dumb haha, I assume they wouldn't be too keen as its a bit more work/ I wouldn't even know how they would get it on as I wouldn't be keen to have it dragged up with the winch, any ideas feedback would be great

You could get four strong guys and lift it straight onto a 6x4 trailer if its totally gutted.
Lay some 4x2" wood across the trailer sides to support the weight and tie it down on top.
They dont weigh much stripped...

Did this recently with my '65 Fairlady.
My Body Shop supplied me with a metal trolley which I fitted casters to.
Then I lowered the body onto the trolley, tied it down with ratchet straps, and away it went

You can achieve the same result with a decent wooden pallet with wheels
I currently have my PL510 with VG30 and transmission sitting on a wooden pallet with 4 caster wheels.
Works a treat
Just make sure the trailer you use has adjustable ramps and a solid floor so the trolley wheels don't slip off into nothingness.

the reason im in need of transport is its actually off to a fabricator to have a frame made up for it so I can wheel it around and turn it on its side, but the wooden crate is a awesome idea ill just temporary fit my caster wheels to it that will save some manual handling :D cheers

Ive helped two other guys pick up a shell and put it on a car trailer resting on tyres.
Was a bit of a struggle with only 3 people tho.
Cant see why a trailer wouldnt work. It wouldnt be over the weight of an unbraked trailer and im pretty sure you can over hang it by 1.2m before you need to flag it.
Check the sa transport website for exact rules i guess...

Me and a mate picked up a 1200 coupe shell onto tyres on a trailer and just strapped it down there, shouldnt be too hard with a couple of strong lads.
