Well looking long term at LSD but not a r31 cut down due to weight etc but see heaps of r180 and Subaru forester lsd diffs at affordable prices. My query is could they be adapted to a cradle that bolts to the leaf springs? This may be a dumb idea but better availability than r31 rear ends.I wouldn't want irs rear end, happy with leaves just looking for LSD options.Would possibly weigh same or slightly less than r31 rear too.

What my idea is to use is the existing rear, leaves and shock mounts etc as is.If I could use Datsun 1600 it similar brakes and drive shafts a Subaru centre should be easy to adapt. Just not sure how to mount rear brakes to leaves and then how to mount centre to car? Solid mount to car or make a cradle that simulates a diff housing bolted to the leaves etc. This is primarily for an LSD so simulating a solid rear axle as per stock would do, but de Dion geometry improvements could be good too. Could bolt in rhs to the rear chassis arms possibly to solid mount to car. At least no drive shaft moment then for diff/gearbox geometry.

We are 80% finished a de dion conversion in a 1200 sedan.
Frame is in, springs, shocks, diff, links all fitted.
Just the hubs, shafts, & brakes to fit.

Alfa GTV de dion frame, pro sport springs, koni yellows, R200 short LSD,R33 hubs, shafts & brakes.

Sorry, no pics till brakes & shafts are fitted..

Hi Baz IM interested in how you mounted the diff.centre to the car.

As IM going to retain the leaves and shock mounts as is, might be easier than a full cradle

We have gone overkill with the R200 but it has a 13B turb fitted & will not remain stock.

Any chance of pics of the mounting off diff centre to the car?

Also what drive shafts can I use? Stock 1600 or 180b ones?

I found this old pic of you de dioning a 1600 Baz. If I wanted to retain my leaves IM assuming I don't need the training arms, just need the hubs attached to the tube and the tube to the leaves.

What wall size is the tube? As I will most likely use steel, and steel plate welded to the tube and then sandwhiched and bolted to the leaves trough the stock diff plates. Use hi tensile bolts instead of u bolts securing the old diff tube.

Does it even have to be tube? Could be box steel yeah?

we made a custom moustache brace, and a custom front bracket using parts of a skyline diff mount and sections of plate.
Same type diff as in the pic you found.
Rear brace similar to a R200 mount we make. http://www.datsport.com/Datsun_510_1600_diff_brace.html
tho its offset to allow the 3" exhaust sufficient room.

Im actually thinking of using the Alfa DD for its thinner size meaning lighter weight and removing the swing arm sections to the centre as the Leaf spring setup of the Volvo is sufficiently strong for a sub 700kg car.

1. pic is what it looks like under a volvo 360

2. From my backyard the main beam

3. PCD is easy to set for 114.3 x 4 as in can be seen
in exploded diagram view.

Volvo 360 uses a weak 5 speed combined with diff transaxle and open centre.
The Volvo 360 is actually a DAF which got bought by Volvo which used the
leaf sprung chassis as a base to make the DeDion setup.

personally love to go inboard discs on an R160 diff using alfa brakes like below

Alfa brakes inboard discs like Jaguar but lighter calipers etc.

If people who have the 360 springs don't want them I will take them
