It's taken a hell of a long time, well over a year since we picked the L20B up after it's rebuild but we finally got the motor hooked up and running!

The starter motor is stuffed but a whack with a hammer got it going and the engine roared into life. She's running very rich so the carbs need another tune and I suspect we're pumping too much fuel through given it's regulated to 3 PSI of pressure and probably should be about 1.5. The fuel pump is ridiculously loud as well, may have to change that.

One of Dad's mates who was a mechanic for a number of years has also pointed out some road-worthy things, nothing major but all the little fiddly things that may get frowned on

Also we've put the 240K console in with all the gauges and they work too. Another plus is the electric water pump and thermo fan are doing their jobs as well.





I think we're about to admit defeat on the wiring though, headlights won't come on for one side and few other bits of weirdness is not making this ball of spaghetti any easier to diagnose

Bet it was good to start it up, sounds great. Have you hooked that wideband I see in your centre console up??
That fuel pump noise was exactly why I didn't want an electric pump. Mechanical works great. Polished up looks good too.(Will interfere with your plug lead holder you made but.
I'm sure there are quieter pumps but I've been through that before years ago, I had a Holley pump that was driving me insane, so I bought another( can't remember brand) that the dude told me was quiet and I wouldn't hear it, anyway it was almost as loud.

I have a low pressure walbro that's super quite 7psi. Works well. Datsport have them

I remember when I was looking at electric pumps, when I wasn't sure if the mechanical pump would be up to scratch.

Nad015 Yep we have hooked it up and it is very blue at the moment as the mixture is too rich, it should go green once we get that sorted.

Definitely thinking we need to find a better fuel pump, the more I watch the video the more it is so damn loud!

No just analogue. We put it in because the headers the engine put on the engine had a hole for it.

We were going to just plug it up but then decided to use it. If you look closely in the video you can even see an LED light we put in the firewall in the engine bay so you can see what is going on in there at night, I suspect we may be getting a little creative at times!

Carby equipped road bikes use a small electric fuel pump, silent and run around 1.5psi, cheap too, maybe just add to in parallel to each other for flow
