DAZDA,

Well in terms of power potential its the safest way to go too big, but in terms of mr-plod-attention potential its also the worst way to go. Personal decision really. I'll be going 3" all the way myself.

Definitely re-inforce the x-member if you're cutting holes in it, think of the torsional forces being applies to it during cornering and accelleration (especially with a SR20).

i rang maddat and they sell a rear X member for $250 with a 4inch crush tube in it soyou can run 3inch, they also do an exchange and that cost 150 + postage

Dude while your getting the hole enlarged you should think about getting the rear cross member made adjustable.
