Post subject: 1/4 times and issues
PostPosted: Mon May 05, 2003 2:56 pm
I was just wanting to know what sort of 1/4 times people are getting out of there FJ/ SR / CA and the occational 13b 1600's.

How much of an issue is the IRS getting ngative camber > wheel spin under acceleration? What are the best set ups for dragging?

Is it possible to put in a wagon rear end in without any modifications?

Im sort of building a graph at the moment which has 1/4 mile times for 1600's v's power output in hp and kw's. Im also noting whether the car has slicks or street tyres and diff ratios, etc. Its coming along slowly but the more people who can help with the info the quicker and more accurately i can put this thing together.
Any particular theoretical time you want to work out?

I'd like to hear from anyone who has taken there 1600 down the 1/4. Stocky or modified. Let us know how you did, what you did it with and perhaps what broke in the process! :)

I was just after some general times of what 1600's have done. What is the fastest recorded and what did it have in it.

I am looking to put a 13b turbo in my 1600.

1600's are know for their slack 60ft times, probable due to neg camber under load you mention. I don't know of any 1600 that runs sub 2 sec 60ft times with the factory IRS on street rubber, regardless of power.
Wagon rear end wont go into sedan without major mods, and if you were going to go that far, you wouldnt choose the factory wagon rear end.

the fastest street time i guess i have seen is from the white sedan w sr20 (11.?sec) form 'Perfourmance' and the green sedan in Adelaide w 13Bt (11.?sec). Both cars have over 300hp at the wheels.
n.b. i think the 13bt got defected recently though.
There is a red sedan with a fj and 9inch thats doing 9's too but that is a fullhouse drag car....

I recall a 1600 that was in Fast Fours a few years back?, maybe hot4s??, licence plates where YULOOZ that was running an modified FJ20DET. I'm pretty sure that this one cracked into the high tens. Does anyone know any thing else about this car :?: .

As far as I know the record has just been broken for an IRS 1600. Darren Anderson from Tassy ran 10.47 @ 128mph in his FJ powered beast. If anyone could shed some light on the specs of this car it would be appreciated. Congrats! Alex from Pulse turbocharging in Sydney has run 9.47 @ 132 but he uses a solid arse 9".

You have to remember that 1200's have solid rear ends. And the quickest to date is afaik Chris in 10STU 1200 ute with a 10.73@12X mph. What time has Andrew Dennis run in his, not that i think his is set up as a purpose built drag car?

It would be interesting to note what times are being run from IRS rear ends. Come to think of it what about the skylines, they run IRS rears and they have run into the 9's now?

i dont know what i do down the quarter.

what does a stock 200B SSS do down the quarter cos that should be what im running hahahaha

there is a big difference between a 200sx and a 200b, not to mention half the cars in here are trying to keep street legal and the 200sx does not have irs not that i know of.

a go cart has done in the 8 secs that is very funny 13b turbo with nos = 500hp
