have you ever looked under a 200sx before? What about silvia or Dr30 or 300zx drivers! They'd have to be doing some quick times in their irs cars too?

There have been some quick times set by IRS cars such as Skylines and 200's but can you call the size of the rubber we can fit under 1600's a fair comparison? No way! I think 8" under the back would be borderline.

225's are the biggest ive ever fit on my 1600 sedan without lipping the guards. Whats the fattest tyres you guys have seen jammed under one for drags?...street or slick?
All nissan/datsun irs drag cars would be have interesting things to learn from each though e.g. what diffs, axles and joints used, spring and shock rates/brands, tyre sizes and brands etc.....

when i had my diff put in (live axel borg warner lsd) to my stanza the bloke made it about 7 mil shorter on each side than the original track width which will eventually allow me to have some fat rubber under there.

i use spacers at the moment and longer pins to allow me to have the car as normal on my old rims.

i spose if u guys with irs had any work done, a modification of this kind would allow you to have big rubber bands but it aint cheap...

the 1600 doesnt have a lot of room on the inside of the wheels. Unless you cut and start to modify, the only way is flared out.
Your stanza wont have any traction issues when you get some decent rubber on there, cool. Whats the diff originally from?

If you plan to keep the IRS an R200 LSD is the toughest thing you'll get under there. I hammered the sh*t out of mine everyday. Daily drifting, heli's and 2nd gear burnouts and it hasn't even squeeled. People who say they're unbreakable are on the money. Not a cheap way out though, and very hard to find. You could get a single spinner and lock it I guess. Half shafts are a different issue, I've broken the uni's about 5 times, my car is pretty low to the ground though which doesn't help.

Guest you're spot on about the inside clearence. The rubber will hit the shock before anything. So a set of custom offset rims are on the cards for me too as the next stage of my car will be a tyre fryer and I don't want that for the street.

Last I heard (months ago) was that Andrew had managed a 12 flat.
If he's improved great. Andrews car is a circuit car, that happens to accelerate too. He has a rollcage, but it's driven regularly on the street, and it's definitely not a drag-only car.
But the main reason for this discussion is times for an IRS 1600. And we sure are seeing some good times.

yeah andrew hasn't gone any quicker than 12 flat as of last week. He made that time quite a while ago too. I think he's got some new mods on the way which could see him better that time.

My best is 12.3 @ 110mph on street tyres. Best 1.73 60ft. Half track 89mph- 225x50x15 tyres with open centre mazda bravo diff - 3.6 ratio. I am selecting 4th gear just before the finish. I once held 3rd gear over the line and did a 12.45 @ 109mph. Ran slicks for 1st time on weekend - 24x8x15 MT Drag after a limiter launch i found my clutch not up to the task, still did a 12.7 @ 108mph - 1.9 60ft. Half track 85mph. I guess my next purchase will be a bigger clutch.
