This is my project or MONEYPIT, been working on it for a few years i have it up on a few other forums.

Details:
Its a 1971 Datsun 1600 sedan.
Plan is to put a SR20 in it, Light blue paint, black alcantara interior, Fender mirrors, wrx front seats, s13 rear seats and some retro wheels of some description. No plans to work the engine, at least not until it is engineered and on the road.

It is still undergoing body alterations/repairs but there is a huge pile of NOS, cleaned, rebuilt, modified, chromed and go fast goodies just waiting to be bolted on.

Here is from the begining...

Out with the old engine

New powerplant

I didn't get a gearbox with my engine so i picked up a S13 with a DE engine and gearbox in it, sold off allot of parts off the S13 paid for the entire SR and box in the end

I did start to strip all the paint and bog by hand but was very time consuming so i sent it to be soda blasted

[ img ]

came back from the soda blasters, exposed a fair bit of rust, bog and previous repairs

One of the body mods i wanted to do on this is to remove the roof gutters

Rust repair is never fun

[ img ]

[ img ]

[ img ]

other body mod on the cards is to create a numberplate recess, it bothered me on my previous datto that it didnt sit right

[ img ]

[ img ]

[ img ]

Over the years she must have had a few mirrors

[ img ]

[ img ]

Had to move the datto while my panel beater moved location

To fit the wrx seats and give me some leg room (all at the expence of rear seat leg room) i made up some new seat mounts.

[ img ]

[ img ]

To fit the S13 rear seats the back support needed triming

Nice collection of parts from MADAT

Wow! Looks like an awesome build.

Well they were rusted through in a few spots, it seemed a easier solution then repairing

Out with the old in with the new

[ img ]

Painted the calipers the same as the body colour i want

[ img ]

Gone with the rusty spare wheel well, making room for a drop tank. In WA it requires a secure point for a spare wheel for compliance. so i have to make something up for the boot floor.

[ img ]

[ img ]

Custom made tank i had made to fill the space

Some NOS stuff aquired

[ img ]

Got an idea to use these gauges on a modified 68 cradle

here is nick
this is what had to be done for it to all work, i was going to put the striker on the lid and cable operated release mechanism on the bottom but i thought the boot lid didn't look right without a key lock. not quite finished there i still need to add some lighting at the top of the numberplate recess

Cheers for comments lads

I been playing with the wiring the last few weeks, allot of the original body loom was hacked into many times so had to replace most of it. Working on setting up the headlights (4 x narva H4 globes) and using stock switches, so i can have a stock setup of lowbeams on the outer and flick of the stalk all four on highbeam. Nothing new there but if i flick toggle switch first and then use the stock switches with the help of a relay i can have all 4 on low beam flick the stalk and have all 4 on high.
All up it takes a 3 relays and 1 change over relay, i will put up a wiring diagram if anyones interested.

I was going to add a S13 aircon unit and after playing with the wiring and working it all out (many hours), i decided to buy a vintage air system just because it's smaller.

[ img ]

theres also some awesome computer and SR engine harness work from PLMS there.
