Had my first engineer check today, got a few things to fix but over all not to bad. Can anyone tell me if my 71 1600 has to have two side mirrors, or can I get away with just one??? Also he's not happy with my brakes.... When you lock up hard the rear locks up first and the rear steps out.. How do I rectify this cheers

My late 71 1600 has only ever had just the driver side mirror. As for brakes probley just get an adjustable brake bias valve installed.

Mirrors were dealer fitted so I guess they chose how many mirrors they wanted to put on. My stanza coupe also only has 1 mirror and got a roadworthy just fine, alot of older cars only have the 1.
But if your engineer wants you to have 2 I suggest you make him happy and find another one.
As for breaks yeah you'll need a valve like yellow1600 said.
