Came across an old R30 skyline the other day, Thinking about making some custom mounts and swapping out the L20B from the bluey.
It doesn't look like too much a hassle, moving mounts, cutting radiator and rewiring etc...
Any thoughts?

Don't bother with the L24E engine.
A slug it is.
Now the L28E is much more better :)

Saw this done many many years ago. A Bluebird with an L28 with triple somethings. Not much room for the radiator and the fan was electric and on the front of the radiator. I know the sump is at the front of the engine on the L24E engine. Dunno what has to be done to it to make it fit in the Bluey.

It was at Oran Park at the drags. Pulled some good times IIRC.

Never saw it again...

A slug? compared to an L20B?

Yeah I thought it'd be a tight fit

Have seen it done but the engine went back, not forward, no changes to engine mounts or radiator, needed custom made sump and firewall cut and transmission tunnel as well, modified gearbox crossmember and shorter tailshaft. very popular in the 80s for sports sedans fitting 6 cylinder engines to 4 cylinder cars semi mid-mount style.

You could certainly fit something like this, but to be honest you are better starting off with a performance engine if you are going to the trouble of mounts, plumbing, exhaust, etc.

You are making the job as hard as possible by using a 6cyl (will fit, but require a lot of messing around) and choosing an engine that is heavier but provides little/no performance benefit.

According to a quick search you are gaining 15-20% power/torque.... yet going to the expense/trouble of a fairly difficult conversion AND adding weight to the car which will hurt acceleration / handling / braking as much as the hp "benefit" will improve it.

An atmo SR20 is a much better choice. Cheap, good upgrade over L20, similar/better gain than L24 (depends on variant), apparently just about bolts in with an S3 crossmember, and gives you an upgrade path to a DET later.

As above... you're getting a minimal gain, with the tradeoff of extra weight, worse handling, worse braking, the effort and cost of the conversion, and the cost of the engine itself. In short, it's a shyte idea :)
