Yes i have considering i used to rally a p510 in the 70's and my father rallied Datsuns for seventeen years. This is the first time i have seen a spring climb up a shaft on the points assembly. I now see why chaps go for electronic systems but when they go it costs a lot more.By the way a dizzie hare costs AUD$411-00.Blady mad are they not. cheers.

I have built a few electronic ignitions from a kit available here in Oz from a firm called Jaycar.

There are super reliable and perform great.
I haven't done the programmable version but the Hall Effect base model is fantastic.
Also there are a few aftermarket kits which are very good.
I fitted one of these to my '65 Datsun Fairlady: -

The beauty of this system is that it suits both positive and negative ground cars, the Fairlady being positive ground.
They are reasonably priced and rarely fail.

oh i forgot to mention that the coil was the wrong type and was not one made for the ballast system.
It made for pointless system and was not marked as such. The spares place salesman said it was the correct one. This is the problem here ....the salesman never stay long enough to know the correct parts and as a result you have salesman who have sh*t experience and knowledge.
