Does anyone have a different version that will fit a long nose R200?
I'm thinking the cheapest version at the moment is the OEM Nissan version from an S13/S14 etc. which has the fins and small capacity increase (?).
Ideally I'd like to get my hands on a Z31 because they increase oil capacity have the standard bolt holes for both attachment to the diff and the moustache bar (85mm instead of 120mm), but I don't see many of them for sale at the moment.

The S13etc. covers look like they have multiple bolt holes on the back for a different way of retaining (not using a moustache bar like the Datsun 1600 for example), and I'm not sure the Datsport/MadDat moustache bar will fit the 120mm bolt spacing and bolt dia.
Most of the later model covers also look like they have larger bolts to hold the cover on the back. The Z31 looks like it's the correct dia for the bolts.

I'm interested in keeping the diff oil cool for when I do a few track days. In the past the R180 would froth the oil (using Motul Gear Competition 75W140) out the breather, so I put a baffle in the back of the cover and also added an extension to the breather to minimise oil coming out the back of the diff. I can only assume it was getting reasonably warm doing upwards of 220km/h and the oil didn't like it. From memory when I was running the Castrol SAF-XA it didn't froth as much. The other option is to run a diff cooler with pump, but considering I mostly only do sprints (stay out the track at most 20 minutes), then it's probably not needed.

I have what looks to be a Greddy knockoff: -

Looks to be made very well and is the 120mm spacing.

Baffle, extended sump, threaded vent hole and threaded plug at the top.
$250 + postage.

Looks pretty good Graeme. Where did you get it from?
The 120mm spacing puts me slightly off. I'd have to re-drill the moustache bar and weld up the old holes. No big deal at the end of the day...
Do you know if the 8 surrounding holes to fix it to the diff are 8mm or 10mm?

I got it from that big department store in the sky, ebay, years ago.
The mount holes are 10mm in diam.

Before I put my hard earned down on an S13 or the Greddy Knockoff (and modifying the moustache bar/re-drilling and tapping the diff or getting sleeves to suit), does anyone have a Z31 finned cover they are willing to sell?

You could probably still use the 8mm fasteners for the cover.
Fit some 10mm tubing into the holes that will sleeve them down in diameter.
Your choice of course :)

Graeme, you know me. If it's gotta be done, it's gotta be done right. I'd probably end up drilling and tapping the diff out to M10. Done right, done once. :-D :-D

I bought mine for $30 posted off ebay. Second hand, no-one else bidded.

Same as Z31 VLSD one just bolts are vertical instead of normal pattern. Isn't a problem as I will have to re-make the moustache bar anyway. I think they are the same as Cimas with LSDs. I'll upload a pic later.

Yeah, I remember the one bolt on top of the other version. Hmmm. I'd still like to see if I can get a Z31, but it's starting to look like modification may be necessary! Wonder if Datsport/MadDat can sell a moustache bar without holes??? Make life a hell of a lot easier!

Give datsport a call I had baz make me up a mostache bar to suit the Greddy copy housing, he said he had greddy copy one laying around so was able to knock it up with minimum fuss as always

From memory the bolt spacings are slightly wider than the normal long nose (as previously mentioned) and he did the bend slightly differently on the bar also to match housing.

You'll also find the bolt holes for the housing to diff case are the next size up also as previously mentioned.....maybe m12 instead of m10 so you'll need to shim your bolts also but all goes together nicely and leaves a nice shelf to leave a spanner on under the car

Still keeping an eye out for the Z31 finned cover at the moment, but may have to buy the Greddy copy or equivalent.
I would probably end up re-welding the holes on the moustache, and giving it a tweak with the fold (if needed)
Just saving away for the centre... Thinking of a Quaife QDF7L.......

I am going with a diff pump and cooler, although mine is a full circuit car.
R180's and r200's seem to be prone to overheating, especially with a clutch pack center. I have a temperature probe in my gearbox and in the diff routed back to the motec dash so will be able to give you some data on what the temperature does.

Even with a street car it could be a good thing.
You could have a switch on the dash and only turn it on when the car is on the track or your giving it a hard time through the tassie hills etc
