Just wondering how and why the open chamber heads such as the u67 are prone to detonation from what i have read on here and other l series forums.

I have an a87 head but looking at options for largernports on a factory u67 or v91 I have in shed.

for a reasonably tuned L series, 38mm ports are big enough.
Open up the A87.

Cheers baz I scored a a87 off a mate which has had work.
Shaved 2mm over inlet valves 37mm inlet ports 72wade cam with matching lash pads and heavier springs.

Hoping it will work well with my single 45side draft weber in my l18.

So are u67 and v91 prone to detonation in stock form
