Cheers, Stephen
shoulda checkd signature i knew that haha.
Yeah im running 45's. Chokes are like 30mm at the moment though, as they were on the stock motor, so when i get them cleaned up/rebuilt ill have to get bigger chokes me thinks, as well as the necesary jets. Will be interesting to see the comparison to the 2L!
Hspwr, cheers mate, the head is a V91 i think standard L18 head?
-(Standard 1800 head is A87 closed chamber - V91 is open chamber 2L head) This is whats been done:
Crow cam .4633 lift (what deg is that?
70deg or 72deg i just got what was recommended)
New Valve guides
Valve springs
valve spring shims
Mild porting, going for higher air speeds rather than volume
Face inlet manifold
Match port inlet manifold and extractors
Helicoiled
The inlet manifold had been flared too much so it had to be welded up and ported again
Pressure tested
All of course acid dipped
I didnt have the biggest cam installed as it is a street car after all, so once its al in the car and running sweet, and i get bored of it
I'll pull it out and rebore, flattop pistons balance everything
and good rod bolts - lol you just described everything done to my bottom end . Basically the equivalent of whats been done to the head, to the bottom end.
I do however have a monster cam laying around that would require an 11:1 comp ratio
hehe my comp ratio also and higher octane fuel to run properly... so maybe if i lose my mind someday i can build up a 'serious' motor
hspwr good luck with the r180, i want
Cheers
My 40mm carbs are running 36mm venturis or chokes
But your head is a closed chamber so it would be either a A87 or a W53 number is on the spark plug side of the head. U67 and V91 are open chamber 2L heads.
Can't quite tell from the lift but, but its only a smallish cam..whats the duration and inlet and exhaust open and closing ??
When i did my bottom end recently, 86.5mm flattops, Fully balanced, ARP mains and rod bolts (for peace of mind
) and i got fussy and micro polished or linished the crank to get all the fine lines and other imperfections off the journals and nice and shiny and smooth for less friction i spose
haha. and with a closed chamber 40-41 ish cc head with flatops makes like 11:1 but im putting thicker head gasket on to lower comp to 10.2:1 to stop pinging and to save on fuel costs
even tho ill just end up useing premium anyway.
haha hope that gives you some insight, also with flat tops you have to double check piston to valves clearance, which means no cams with massive amounts of lift.
Cheers,
Stephen.
