Hi all,

Ive been tinkering with the idea of doing an engine conversion on either a Datsun 1000/1200/1600
I would love to get back into rotarys, so my first engine choice is 13B (probably N/A, for engineering side of this)

Ultimate combo I would like is a Datsun 1000 with a 13B N/A
A couple of questions:
1. Does anyone do conversion kits? Ive had a look at MADDAT but he only does brake conversion kits for 1000 atm
2. Has anyone successfully done this conversion, engineered and registered?
3. Supporting mods, ie. brakes and suspension is a must! What/how did you upgrade?

I know MADDAT/Datsport do conversions for a lot of parts for 1200/1600
Should I just do a 1200/1600 13B conversion?

Unfortunately I don't think you'll be able to get even a 12A engineered in a 1000. I was thinking of buying a 1000 wagon a few years back but didn't because I couldn't legally fit a 12A. You might have more luck with a 1200, a friend of mine recently got engineer's approval on a 12A turbo into a Mazda 1300, and I can't see a Datsun 1200 being much lighter than that, so maybe that's an option?

Get a 260 or 280 shell. Better value for a similar style.

Be nice also to consider a 620 or early 720 ute with L28 stroker (ld28 crank) and 280zx turbo manifolding.

Whats state are you in?

13b rotary is illegal in most states for most sub 750kg cars, a 650kg 1000 is a no go.

1000 with cheaply USA imported hayabusa motor, box and quaife diff (electric reverse inbuilt)
would be a cheap investment compared to what rotaries cost these days to build.
Sequential gearbox needs nothing done unless you are boosting it.

Heres a 1200 with a busa
