hi everybody! i have my 82 gl stanza and i need a bit more power to get up everyday hills without putting alot of pressure on the auto. is there anything i can do to give it more power and/or torque? thankyou for all answers! -brad |

You will get a little bit more if you install an L18, i say L18 rather than L20b because you wont need to engineer L18 just notify them that you changed the engine. Will also be able to control it a bit more if you do a manual conversion. Upgrading the carbs is probably your best option, i personally would go webers or solex sidedrafts but you can pick up SU's pretty cheap. Also if you put on decent extractors and a 2inch exhaust you might notice a difference. First thing first i would service the engine completely with new points-condensor-rotor button filters, oil, plugs etc. |

agreed, an electronic dizzy + tune up and letting it breathe better with something like a 32/36 weber and an exhaust should get it going a bit better at minimal cost... |

What is your budget?-brad How is your mechanical ability & knowledge? Do you have the facilities to work on the car? |

Be careful with carb upgrades and the auto, dont want to mess too much with the vac signals etc. 32/36 is good upgrade on a budget. |

ok baz. im 16 and i have dad which knows alot about cars.i study automotive at tafe and we have heaps of gear. we also have my neighbour who races 240z and has soo much stuff its crazy. i know a fair bit of cars and will know what you guys are talking about. money i have a job and this is my project car because i have my ls nearly ps soon. dad said he can chip in a bit. so we are felxiable with cash. we could do an engine swap to l20b but the stanza is 100% original! so i want to keep half original but not overdone. thanks heaps fellas |

Try find a stanza 4 or 5speed. Get the gear box x member and stuff too. Where are you located- rugbylegend has this stuff in vic atm. |
