I found once fuel tank is an issue sitting around with bad sealing fuel caps or outside atmosphere getting into the system. Other dattos sitting around for 20 plus years had none of these issues as they were empty of fuel and had a sealing.
I had the chance to buy a wagon of this exact model, it had a cracked exhaust manifold and owner couldnt get it to start due to fuel blockage and turned away from it due to that as I experienced the same drama on an old kb10 that drove me bonkers.
Needs to be done properly and that is quite involved these days as less people reco fuel tanks now but its worth the headaches to spend 400-500 as the rest of the car is bulletproof.

he used sealer inside tank and it was not done properly so kept blocking fuel lines, went to ballarat for car show, and got half way home.
company is pulling it apart and cleaning it all out
i did meet another elderly couple in ballarat car show with Datsun 2000 badged, it was same as mine, just later rebadging
