Hi everyone, I'm a noob to this site but not to car forums.

My long going (ver long) project car is an 84 Toyota Supra but I have just picked up a Datsun 200B SSS. The interior is clean as a whistle, but on the outside it has a little hit on the front right hand corner. And some knucklehead painted the engine bay with a paintbrush. No rust found so far.

I wanted to fix her up, but I don't know anything about these cars, and bought it on a whim because it was an old school 2 door and was a SSS.

Now if anyone could help me with how much these cars are worth, so I can gauge how much money and what work I should do on it to bring it up to scratch.

I have done a search on Google and found prices around $5000 mark, but those posts where old. What's it worth in 2014?

Oh if anyone could suggest desirable repairs and/or extras to boost its value e.g window louvers, spoiler/wing, front splitter/lip, wheel options, manual or auto.

As nick said, get some of the outside showing all rust and damage, and some of the interior. That will help. And also your location.

I bought a rusty one about two years ago for $50. It would have to be good for $5,000. No offence but they're not really pulling that money yet unless they're immaculate or quite modified. Remember that someone's advertised price versus what they actually got for it may have been two different figures.

Sorry I might not have been clear, I wanted to know how much it will be valued once repaired. I have seen one for $7000, if I repair mine to high level what price should I expect? Can I get close to $7000?

I'll try to post some pictures today, the car is not a thy house, so I gotta travel to it.

So your rusty one was worth $5000?

If I fix my damage and paint the engine bay, I'll have a totally stock, granny spec, as original and clean car. Can I sell for $5000 or more?

What Al is saying is that to get $5000 for a 200B, it would have to be a good example. His rusty one was worth what he paid for it - $50. I'd go so far as to say it would have to be a very, very good example to get $5K. $2-4000 is probably more realistic for a decent, original SSS. Like it or not, they are the poor cousin to the more glamorous 1600's, 1200's, zeds, etc as far as value is concerned.

Cool. That's what I needed. Since the purchase was around $1500 I guess there is no money to be made if I fix her up. Thanks for the info. :)

Might have to just keep her, so I might be a regular on ozdat from here on.

So what you're saying is that you just wanted to flip it and make some coin? Nice. Well 200Bs aren't the best cars to do that with unfortunately. If you clean it up and make it look fairly good you might pull $2,000 for it if someone really wants one. It all depends on the market at the time. Good luck

Yeah that's right. But it might need $1000-$2000 of work which leaves me with no profit on the sale.
Oh we'll looks, it's sad they aren't worth more, they are pretty rare and don't look too bad. And it's a 2 door.
