I'm doing a bellhousing swap on a 71c style box, and I'm using a 71b bellhousing.

I removed the 71c bellhousing, but between the bellhousing and the sandwich plate there was no gasket. Also there was no gasket between the sandwich plate and the rear housing.
Both joins just used sealant.

Should I use a gasket here? Or just use a sealant again??
If using sealant what type should I use??

Any silicone type is fine, no need to use a lot,
The front cover ( inside bellhousing) if the paper gasket is old/compressed, a thin smear on both sides of the paper.
If no paper, then, yep, hit that with the sticcky goop too!

Thanks dat2kman
Yeah the paper gasket is still intact on the front cover, I intended to leave it there and put a thin smear of sealant on that.

So on the sandwich plate just rtv sealant or similar with no gasket by itself fine?

Yep, both sides of sand plate, ensure full coverage, a bit oozes out on bolt up.

While at it, whack a dob of rtv etc on the circlip on the pin holding gearstick into the box, they can pop off, and pin wriggle out.
