Started doing this about 9 weeks ago. It'll be a few more weeks before the turbo is on it.

Just a very basic setup to see how simply it could be done... cost about $1k in parts to get it this far.

The same system could be put on an L series engine. Probably only worth it if you were going turbo..

Here is a link to the build thread on the 1200 site, incase some want to know how bits were done..

This is very cool, thanks for sharing.

With this setup how does it go for fuel economy? How did you go about choosing that injector size for this setup?

Can you list out the cost breakdown for how your reached $1k?

I forgot to mention, I have been checking out a few guys who have been able to get a small engine (mower for example) working using a similar setup except for the ecu they are using an arduino micro controller.

Hopefully development continues in that arena and we can all run cheap micro controllers as ecu's for old ghetto datsun setups.

Sure, here is a bit of a break down on costs:

$550. New Microsquirt V3 ECU, loom, sensors.
$30. Coil pack(Excel).
$30. Throttle body, inc tps and harness plug(excel).
$92. new Seimens Deka 800cc Inj(Ebay).
$15. SH Fuel pressure reg(97 Mitsu Lancer)
$14. Brass "T" (1/4 BSP), barbed fitting, angle brackets for Fuel rail.
$15. Cam sensor (Excel)
$8.50 12 tooth sprocket(Ebay, inc delivery)
$5. Alloy for TB adaptor plate and dizzy cover.
$35. Extra wiring and heat shrink.
$60. SH Ign module(can use BIP 373 transistors instead $10 each).
$60. Fuel pump
$50. Extra fuel line.
$7.50 EFI filter.

I may have missed something...I'm just recalling from memory. That obviously doesn't include the time to put it together!

The turbo will be a single turbo off a twin turbo Skyline. Ive put a steel wheel reco kit through it so it wont fly apart(like the ceramic ones do) when I wind it up. Probably will make 80Kw or so on the standard A12. Will need a cam to go over 100Kw.

I went with this injector to have some head room for when the turbo goes on next week. These inj also have multi hole discharge that give reasonable atomization. Should be ok up to about 100Kw. I have a new Bosch 2200cc inj if I push it higher than that.

I'm waiting on a new wideband sensor, as the last one started to play up. So still haven't finished the tune. Hopefully it will be here today!

I'm happy to post results as things change..
