The Toyota Car Club of Australia (Vic) is proud to present the 5th Annual Classic Japan car and bike show.

Venue: Como Park North, South Yarra. Melbourne, Australia.

Date: Sunday, December 6, 2015

Event Schedule:

7:00am – 8:00am. Vendor set up and trailered vehicle arrival.

8:00am – 9:3oam. Gates open for entrant arrival.

9:30am – 2:00pm. Gates Closed (No vehicles to be moved or started during this time).

2:00pm – 3:00pm. Gates open for entrant exit.

3:00pm. Event closed.

Eligibility criteria:
Vehicles sold by a Japanese manufacturer with a build date up to (and including) December 31st, 1990. (25 years or older)
As per previous years vehicles sold by an Australian subsidiary such as the Holden (Isuzu) Gemini and Chrysler (Mitsubishi) Galant are eligible.

For those interested, Eastern suburbs pre-meeting point will be 'The Village Green' pub, Springvale Rd, Mulgrave.

Time: 7:30am for a 7:45am departure.
It's a 15min drive there, so we'll get there around 8:00am.

Classic Japan & TCCA have lost their minds: Vehicles must now pre-book, there is a limit to 600 vehicles & the worst of all:

"Entry is $15 and includes a $5 donation to our event charity."

They can get stuffed with these 'conditions of entry'. It seems to have become a money making exercise now too.

Come on now Lurch, Being an little optimistic on their numbers from last year they still stand to donate at-least 2k to charity.

Toyota car club will make a minimum of 4k - Groups like the AOMC ( http://www.aomc.asn.au/ ) make easily 50k from an event like the RACV Classic Show case & they are group with over 250,000k in the bank.

If you want to get upset with a group "profiteering" from an event get upset with them, any money these guys make will only go towards making the next event even better.

This isn't a private Company trying to profit from enthusiasts (Autosalon, and some others which actually still exist but i wont mention) this is an event run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts.

Not to mention that the organisers need to book and pay the local council to use the park for an "event" whether it is a commercial, sporting, cultural purpose, festival, etc.

The councils just don't let anyone rock up without assessing each event in terms of the capacity of the chosen park to accommodate the activity and also ensure that the activity will / does not adversely affect the other other park users and adjoining residents....they charge for that.

Then I could also imagine there would be public liability insurance that would need to be taken out to cover the case where someone trips over a hapless 120Y and bumps their head on the hubcap of my 1600, and sue the council and / or the organisers, or some thing like that...the councils would insist the organisers indemnify them and wouldn't grant permission approval unless the event had insurance underwritten.

I really doubt they are running this as a "money making exercise"...

Yeah I fail to see what the problem is.

It's such a good event, one of the best car shows going around, I think the price is fine

Just entered my hapless 120y where will your 1600 be parked? :lol:

I have happily paid the $15 and if i'm lucky my car will be back together by then, $15 is bugger all for a good day. Why should a car club fund an event for the enjoyment of other's? Only fair those involved contribute.

The thing that was great about it all was the pure casualness of the event,
which seems to be loosing its charm slowly.

Register a vehicle?
I dont know what I will take till the last minute, and thats still pending if the weathers crap or if i have too much of a good time at my own car clubs xmas party the day before.

Event has no room?
use that sponsorship cash towards a bigger venue.

The cash for entry isnt a issue for me aslong as its going to make a bigger and better show in 2016, insted of someones personal bank account.

Wow this is outrageous!

Not the price, the new level of tightarse for such a awesome event 8)

I won't have a car ready this year but will give $15 to cover lurch not attending, happy days

I'm registered, now just have to go flat out to get the 1600 sedan going.

TCCV are a not for profit club, I can't see any way this would/should be lining peoples pockets.

Just means the event pays for itself rather than the club membership fees paying to run it.
