Datsun 720 diff.
Not sure on how strong they are, considering locking it up for skids of replacing with a 9 inch.
Prefer to keep this one if I can, but don't want to blow it up first skid.
Standard Ls1 and 4 speed auto in front of it.
What are your thoughts???
Cheers Dale

They're a common upgrade for an Escort, but then escort diff's are pretty crappy. They're not quite as big in the axle as the late 80's Hilux, but pretty close. In a light car just spinnning rubber into smoke, it should survive for a little while. Guess it depends on how wide the rubber is and how savage you are on it. Late 90's commodore BW axle or the venerable 9" are the bullet proof options, you'd be able to flog the 720 diff for ~$150 or so.

Commodore/Skyline BW78 is your best option, 9 inch is way to heavy, Put a full spool in it to replace the centre , They are cheap and easy to find with lots of ratio's . Will handle way more torque than you have, guys run 9 second drag cars with them.

Your diff housing s a H190, you can weld the centre up, or i can sell you a correctly welded centre to suit your diff.
It is the big spline version, ie 29 spline 31mm od.
You should have that axle size as standard, pull one out to check.
Provded you dont have the back f the 720 full, it will do skids just nicely!
