G'Day Guys and Gals,

Something that I am looking to get my hands on is a set of printed emissions stats/figures for the 1971 1600s. I imagine this would be found in the 1600's owners manual/workshop manual to which I don't have a copy.

Looking this stuff up in google and even on here brings up a bunch of stuff not relevant to my inquiry.

Would anyone have a copy of this text or a link to?

I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

I have the relevant User Manuals and Workshop Manuals for the '71.
It didn't have an evaporative fuel recycle/carbon canister thingy but it does have some carb and air cleaner stuff.
The crank case PCV valve was about the most complex bit and it was really basic.
Let me know if you need some scans of the emissions stuff.

That would be really awesome. Thanks heaps. I will end up going through the relevant data and forms and laminating a bunch and keeping them with the car at all times. In case a pesky law enforcement officer decides they know best...

Cover my arse.

I am almost certain these cars were pre-emissions anyway but... can't hurt, right?

Thanks again mate :)

AwesomeSauce!

Thanks heaps mate!!

It is looking more and more like the engine is going to be the "newer" item in that car so I will have to adhere to later laws and emissions compliance.

Are you talking about having to do an IM240 test for emissions?
When I had my car engineered, he stated "why, you will have nothing to compare it to". Emissions laws came into cars AFTER the 1600 was built. They don't run emissions controls on carburettors, they came with twin carburettors on certain models. They didn't have catalytic converters in the exhaust. They literally don't have any information to compare it to as far as i'm aware.

HOWEVER, with a engine swap, you need to make sure that you comply with the engine emissions requirements of the engine that you transplant into the car. Ie. Can't drop an SR in without complying with all the emissions gear that came standard with that model engine.

Is that what you're getting at?

yeah... I was HOPING to get a 13b rotary from 1971 but... didn't exist in production vehicles so... no deal there. Then there'd be an even playing field.

So, I will have to equal or better the standard acceptable tolerance in one field for gaseous emissions and also stationary noise (below 96db).

I was looking for a way to make my transplant easier... Not that I think it is going to be too difficult.

I'll look into getting a '73 13b ex RX4.
