Hey guy's Just purchased a 1600 sedan it's my second datsun.
I had a 1200 ute a couple years ago and before that I've owned 3 Holden Gemini's one of which I spent ridiculous amounts of money on and never got to drive the thing before I sold it on and moved states due to work.
According to the previous owner it has:
-L20b engine with twin webbers
- 5spd 240k (dogleg?) gearbox
-240k front struts and brakes
- 4.11 200b coupe diff
As I'm a complete newb when it comes to these cars. I'm not sure why it has a 200b diff in it. I can only assume it is stronger and has a more desirable ratio? Do these diffs bolt straight in or would something had to of been modified? I'm just trying to understand more about what has been done to the car.
In about 10 months I'll be moving back to WA from SA and I am planning on doing the SR20DET conversion respraying it and getting it fully engineered.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend what diff to use when doing the conversion, I think WA might be a bit stricter on what mods you can do over there. I've seen people use the R180, R200, Hilux diffs and R31 diffs. I know when it comes to Gemini's the diff conversion was the biggest dilemma.
Being that I intend to run a fairly stock engine for street use to begin with and maybe doing some mild upgrades like bigger turbo larger injectors (money permitting). What diff is best to use? I think one that requires the least amount of modification would be best when it comes to ease of getting an engineer to sign off on it...
My plan is to purchase all the conversion kit, diff setup, suspension brake's etc from one of the Dat shops here in SA and bring it all back to WA with me , because the Army will pay for my uplift when I relocate to WA
.
Sorry for the long winded post but any info and advice you guys could give me would be great.
P.S is there any SA Datto owners here that go on Cruises? I'm keen to tag along !
