gday guys and girls.

well i am at a slow point in the conversion. i have done a search for most of the questions i am about to ask. and have a general idea. i forgot to ring baz on friday and ask some questions. doh.

well first question. how do i get the speedo to work? there is no speedo cable input in the g/box? or is there? is it electronic? basicly how do i make the orignal speedo work with the sr g/box?

second. the datsport trans x/member do i have to drill into the orginal sr trans x/member and attach it to the adaptor plate in the datsport kit. i think i do i have read it in another post but it wasnt that clear.

and lastly the driveshaft. i have put the drive input into the back of the g/box and it fits. is that ok of course it would have to be shortened. but is this what most people have done?

sorry for the long post but i didnt ring baz......i am so silly

thanks in advance

graham

Speedo: remove the electronic speed sensor from the gearbox and use your original speedo gear drive.

Gearbox x Member: Remove all the orginal x member and mounts. Attach Datsport x member and mount. NO DRILLING!

Tailshaft: have theoriginal shortened/balanced to suit. But Its not that much more for a new HD item so ask. I think Transline? in Toowoomba can help.

Cheers,
Mal

thanks for that mal. but how do i mount the g/box xmember? you probably know that there is four holes in the adaptor plate. two big ones on the outer edge and two smaller ones. now the bigger ones are inline with the orginal plate with the g/box member. what i think is that i need to drill two small holes in the orginal sr g/box xmember to match up with the adaptor plate from datsport.

geez that was hard to explain. cause i can bolt the x/member from datsport to the b/box unless i use 40mm washers. hmmmm

the drive shaft will be getting upgraded after i get it on the road. i just wanted to know if i could still use it for awhile.

thanks very much graham

graham look gearbox X member http://www.datsport.com/Complete_conversion_kit.html in this link.

The little plate with Datsport written on it has four holes yes?. The small ones which mount attach the plate to the rubber mount on the gearbox, then when fitted to gearbox the outer large ones mount the x member to the adaptor plate.

yep the plate which has the datsport sticker on it has four holes. two big ones on the outer bit and two small ones near the middle. how do i mount the plate with those two little hole. this is how i thought it was done. but there is no bolts or nuts on the g/box that match up with those little holes. that is why i thought that i would need to use the sr g/box mount and drill holes in it, not the datsport plate. those two big holes match up with the sr g/box mount nuts. and do not attach the plate to the xmember. that is what the two huge bolts slide threw at the end.

graham do you have a RUBBERMOUNT on your gearbox ?

This is what the Datsport Plate, using the small holes attaches too.

msn:ubermal@hotmail.com might be easier.

Probelm solved. Graham's gearbox mount is rooted. Someone has ripped SR20 out of a car with rubber gearboxmount still bolted and sheared it off.

No wonder it wouldnt bolt up! :)

Cheers,
Mal

Thanks for the help Mal.
Will update the fitting section on website.
Graham have spare mount if you need it FOC just call Monday.

Readers digest version.
1. Fit rubber trans mount to trans. ( can use 200B mount for this job)
2. remove top plate from DS mount bracket.
3. Bolt Rubber mount to top plate fully to right side. Note bracket is stamped L for left(passengerside).
4.Refit lower trans bracket.
5. Jack up trans so bracket is touching floor flush both sides.
6. Align holes & fit the original bolts.
7. Note on Auto shells the bolt positions are at the rear(shown in pic)
8. After all is aligned Drill from underneath the additional mounting holes & fit with bolts supplied.
