That device is your actual "liquid vapour separator"
It actually sits across the fuel supply and return lines to remove any vapour from the supply to the carburettor float valve.

You could probably temporarily connect the supply and return lines straight to their respective rigid lines to bypass him
Unless you are in a really hot climate I doubt that vapour lock would be a problem for you

so i could buy pass this as you said put the respective hoses to the right flows, e.g.: purge back to tank and incoming line to carby, will also add a fuel filter between these two,
I live in Sydney and yes we do get some hot days but i suppose time will tell if i even get an effect of vapour lock at all
also looks like new rubber fuel lines every were as they are all cracking, lucky it broke in my driveway
