Baz,
I would be most pleased to hand the honour to you. At least I wouldn't be known as the oldest fart here.

Hey ken, while born here I have dutch ancestry and an associated liking for dutch licorice.
I may not be the oldest fart, but I sure am the longest.... :D

Well KenR, Jacko, Baz etc

Regardless of our respective claims to fogeydom, its nice
to meet some other veteran Datsun enthusiasts. At least I
guess we all first drove a 1600 in the 70's! :P

Cheers, Neil

Too true Neil
My 1st 1600 was a 72 model I got in 1975. :)
Unfortunately rallying was in the family and it suffered several "degradations" before finally dying.
My Datsun era basically ended 10 years later but I keep monitoring here and intend to get back into it fairly soon.
Ideally I'd like to get a really nice 71 or 72 car wih a reworked Z18 or similar motor. I want to keep it fairly low tech and have it as a daily driver with just a bit more squirt than an L series can deliver while still being reasonably economical etc if "feathered" around town.

well Jacko, you'll have to swing along to the after chrissy BBQ at kings park to meet us all and be persuaded (by the will or by the force) to restoring another datto. 8)

Hey,
Dan,
20
Work as a CAD Drafter/IT for an Electrical engineering firm ( part time ), and Study Mechanical Engineering at polytech full time.

My goal is to one day work just like you baz.....dedicate my time to the datto's of NZ :)
( tho will have to play with other cars too, cause there just aint enough datto's in NZ to make a business run from :( )
