Diesel/petrol mechanic working in underground mining.

i've worked all over the country and also in Kazakhstan for a year. No i didnt see borat. F&^K it was cold though.

i work on underground drills, trucks and loaders (google Sandvik for pics). Usually around the 40 tonne mark. these machines are either electric over hyrdraulic or just hydraulic.

Great money (which is paying for my 1600 resto), 12 hour days, it's not hard work.

Free flights, accommodation and food. beers and bourbons start from $2 at the bar :cheers

Been doing it for four years, will be doing another year or so then thats it, had enough.

Good money but sh*t lifestyle!!

still beats slogging my guts out as a mechanic in sydney for $650 a week

I also do the occasional surf life saving on weekends which basically doesnt pay and has very short hours but at night we all get pissed which is always fun!

Haha! Sorry mate, but I was more referring to the fat-cats in the game. I swear the entire WA trucking industry will be run by about 3 or 4 companies before long.......

I work for an off shoot of CSR, in there glass branch. I'm a coating supervisor we coat float glass with nasty chemicals to give them solar properties, to reflect UV light from passing through.
On the weekends I play as a fitter/Machinist at my old mans business to try and finish the car before the baby comes in November. :cheers
