yup. after the smash repairer looked at my car and said "would be a good job for the apprentice", i got a bit worried that said apprentice might need to take an extended test drive in the interests of testing his repair-work.

so any ideas that won't do any damage to the engine? retard the dizzy? only run the 'waste-spark' coil, so it's a slug and cuts out at 3grand?

jam your wastegate open with some coathanger wire holding the actuator open (from the outside of course).

or remove your compressor impeller blades!!!

maybe fit a BOV that opens at 2psi.

or drop your car off and remove the rotor button.

then they'll have to push it in and out of the workshop.

Personally i wouldnt let a mechanic let the apprentice work on my pride and joy, i'd rather pay extra, but considering your paying the same amount for either person to work on it.... :/

Its discusting how some mechanics drive peoples cars. When i was at ford, we had an apprience there who drove customers cars like they were stolen. One of the senior mechanics got a call one day from a mate in roadworks who rang up to say he'd just seen this car go drifting a dirt road, with one of our mechanics in it. turns out to be our afore mentioned apprienceship. Scary thing is he's T/Q now.

And all the above mentioned things will work. PROVIDED the guy doesn't read this forum

I wouldn't be letting the apprentice work on it. NO WAY IN HELL
Really it doesnt say much about the Boss's work ethics to even say that infront of you.
I would be more worried about the quality of the work than the apprentice taking your car for a hoon.
Take out the rotor button like pro240c suggested if you must leave it there.

My only other suggestion is to find another crash repairer.
