I've got a 180B SSS engine complete with carbs sitting in the corner of my garage.
I'll try to remember to take a photo tonight.

This is how the factory did it.

Tyrie's is pretty non-standard (but easier to replicate unless you have the right bits with your SU setup :D )

Did 180BSSS's change from roundtops to flattops during the production run, or are mine off something else?
Also, is that the throttle linkage it used? I cant figure how to use that piece without adding a 1/2 wheel for the cable.

Cheers,
Tyrie

The throttle linkage doesnt use a cable like you have, it has this rediculously stupid system of rods and levers. It astounds me that they did that, I mean they used cables for the chokes so its not like they didnt know cables existed...

Yep, changed from round-top to square-top fairly early on (1973?)

It looks like yours has been converted to cable operated throttle, which you will need the half wheel to operate. Standard they used a system of little ball-joints and rods which connected up to the bit you mention.

ahhhh, fairies nuts.

I just put a 40mm weber in mine, which had the bit in the pic of the L18 (the 'U' shape with a slot in each side), but mine, as you say, has been converted to cable, so I took the piece that bolts to the firewall off a s2 bluey which used a wheel, and she's all hunkie dorie!
