it's been posted before but i have to say, i still think this is a great car.

seriously, those S2000 engines are one tuff little number, and is better in a datto than a honda - that's for sure!

expect this this to be one heated thread - just like the last.

Yeah but these are newer shots. The last shots were 'in the build'.

I have driven a couple of S2000's and was not overly impressed.
Credit where credit is due they make impressive NA power but you have to cane the living daylights out of them to keep them in the powerband. Sort of reminded me of a CR125 or something.
Nice neat conversion, the owner has every right to be proud of it. Only thing I don't like is the tight bend in the inlet pipe just before the TB. But thats just me being a fussy bastard.
I think a torquey NA SR20 would be a much nicer car to drive and should still make 150+kw atfw pretty easy.
Jake

Dont N/A SR20s make like 65kw ATW? About 100kw at the flywheel? 150kw sounds like a big ask at the wheels - I dont know what kind of figures people get with them, so I am happy to be corrected.

bob, Jake said 150kw atfw (at the flywheel) ;)

Either way 150kw at the flywheel from an SR20de is still a big ask. if I recall correctly they struggle to get to 100rwkw (which is more like 130 fwkw)

"Designed by some of the engineers behind Honda's winning F1 and CART engines, the S2000's two litre DOHC straight four (a configuration chosen for compactness) boasts such race-bred features as roller rockers, forged shallow skirt pistons, ladder frame main bearing stiffener and fibre reinforced aluminium for the cylinders. It's also smaller and lighter than Honda's regular two litre engine, and at 237bhp sets a new record for highest specific output for a normally aspirated production car engine." From http://www.pistonheads.com/roadtests/ho ... aS2000.htm

237 hp or 176 kw sounds like a lot of power. It aint gonna be slow

A mate took me for a ride in his S2000. Maybe I am easily impressed, but I had to sit with my legs crossed for a little while.

Seems that 140rwhp should be quite attainable, even with a internally stock SR

An FJ24 would come close but they are rarer than hens teeth.

You don't get anything for nothing. There must be compromises. Race engines don't last overly long, and did I hear a rumour you can't rebuild these engines?

Dave

Hang on a moment Dave, I am no Honda nut job or anything, but you have (justifiably) hit some people pretty hard in these forums about trash talking with little proof, I think you are going to have to find some evidence to back yourself up there.
