A few things to that may help with the weight savings are the Sparco seats weigh only 6kg each, rear seats removed, CA's weigh only about 140kg. SR's about 155kg and L18's about the same as CA's. The CA18det also have a bunch of very heavy brackets on the intake side of the engine. These are not needed and were thrown on the scrap pile instantly. The car was also taken back to bare metal and only a very small amount of bog was used here and there. I only bought 1 small tin of bog which I still have today. 2ltrs of primer and 3ltrs of paint was all it took. It had 4 paint jobs on it when I acquired the car. All the small things count. Like no carpet underlay etc etc etc.

I have been told the 69 had thinner panels than the later 1600s, not sure how true that is though

Possible mate. I was also lead to believe Jap delivered cars came with the panels galvanised and the Aussie build cars were not galvanised?????????

I have owned 2 69's and 1 70 and 2 71's. I'd have to say that having to repair rust on all of them before the rust was the worst on the 70 and 71 models I owned. That could have just been the luck of the draw though. Would be good the know the nitty gritty of the manufacturing process for these cars.

I don't think anybody galvanises panels?

And electroplate priming only came in around the time of the bluebird (910), not sure why they still rust so much!

Your car sure does sound light. Leigh's mate had a 1200 sedan with CA18det and stock brakes, suspension and H145 diff that weighed in at nearly 900kg with driver.

Yeah, I was amazed at the weight of you car Brad. My 1600weighed in at 1080 with a full tank and me not in it. It was 1160 with me in it. So perhaps my weighbridge was crap, or yours is crap? I haven't got a back seat, nor a powersteering pump/air conditioning pump either. So not sure.

Hi Jasol sorry mate I ditched the intank setup as I was getting a bit of serge on the track. It would be fine for the street. There is a thread on Ozdat that has pics and info. Do a quick search.

I will get you some pics of my BOV setup in the next few days. Cheers Brad
