Here is my Datsun Coupe 1600 as they were sold in Austrailia, but still badged, and better known as the Nissan Silvia.

Nissan made 554 of them between 1965 and 1967. 49 of them were sold in Australia through Datsun dealers. Most of them remained in Japan. Built on the same chassis as the Fairlady roadster, with a body designed by Kazuo Kimura.

I bought it ages ago, but haven't had any time to do much to it (busy with work and a 240Z). I've fixed the brakes that were leaking, fixed a engine problem. Needs new tyres and a general tidy up. It's had the guards flared, wider mags and Koni suspension.

The early silvia has been one of my favourites ever since i saw pics in a car mag when they were released.
In one way its a pity about the mods/ flares.
Then again the fact that its been done allows you to modify
without feeling the guilt.
five speed will be nice addition.

I'd never noticed how Bertone-ish the styling looks. Do you know who designed it?
Nice find :)

Looks unreal for its age. It resembles quite a few other cars, like the front of an early Z. The pillars of a HR30 skyline and so forth. Great find looks nice!

I like it.... A lot. Although I agree with Baz ... the flares detract a bit ... don't suit the angular body... if I can say that in the nicest possible way! Interior and engine bay look in good shape too. Mr C ... care to tell us how much you paid for it?

Cheers, Neil.

He told you already, "Albreacht Goertz," though I believe his first name is actually Albrecht.

Interesting related article here.

The "Albreacht Goertz" bit was edited into the first post after Zac posted his question about stylist for the car.

There's another really good site here http://www.angelfire.com/ns/silvia/

Looks alot like an Isuzu 117 Coupe IMO. These were styled by G.Guigaro.

Nice classic Datto either way.
