Pro,
In the other thread i was referring to US engines, and simply keywords to use to find them on ebay US. I never claimed the Holden 3.8 was using an M62, but from what i found, the american's do use M62's on some of their cars (although their ads are lacking info and somewhat confusing too)

I read an article last night on the new Lotus track car. Kind of like an Elise on drugs. The interesting (and relevant) bit was that they supercharged the 2ZZGE. It normally puts out around 189HP, and when they plonked on the M62 and an A2A i/c, they got 243HP. So about a 28.5% gain in peak power.

Anyways, I thought that was an interesting reference for what a modern twin cam 4 behaves like with an Eaton. Kind of suggests that M90 wouldn't be so big...

A couple blown Z series.

These push very small cars, I think they weigh in just under 1200lbs total. Made to slide sideways at over 80mph for about 20-45 minutes at a time.

CANNED... Its all shelved for at least 6mths...
on my way to work (93km drive) my ever faithful Cedric (P430 280c) decided it was a good thing to let go of the headgasket...
so now i have no daily driver....
so... i have 3 options:
(rush)put my 1600 back to gether and get it lic.
(rush)replace l28 on cedric.
(rush)replace CA18 on Silvia
(rush)fit Vh45DE to Cedric/Silvia/1600.

any way i go im fu$ked... so i think i might have to settle for a L26/L24 into the Cedric as no one has an l28.............

murphy's fu$king law... again.

nite all.

so change the headgasket....!

3 hours work and it'll be running again, then go get it tuned so you don't have it blow again.

ok, thanks for the tip but i actually know a bit about cars and engines.
to make it fair i should give you all the details.

on start up that morning it made a weird 'POP' noise (almost) like a backfire in the manifold.
drove it to WOT was still idling roungh, it NEVER idled rought when warm.
drove another 20 or so kms the temp gauge went up (off 'L') then in the space of 2min (@100km/h over 3or4 kms) it reached H, stayed there for another 3min (had no where to stop and had to get to work) as i pulled into a servo it stalled.

so.... the damage is greater than a simple gasket or/and head machine.
the gasket also blew out near the radiator water outlet #1cyl. oil spray on dizzy bonnet coil, gaurd etc.
radiator held capacity. no oil in water (checked next day), no water (grey foamy deposit under oil cap) in oil or on d/stick.

thus, given the unkown oil loss (also no oil reading on d/stick) and the continued driving on HIGH temp the damage could in all possibilty be
*(OIL related) cam, crank, bearing, ring, bores damage
*(head gasket/over heat) head warped...

so, i need a full rebuild.
ohh and now i have minimal $$$ and add to my "spare" parts collection i bought that s/c (before) this happened the Eaton M90.

im leaning towards a new option here...
SR20 into cedric.........?

They look awesome, very thorough. Gotta be dry sumped with the kind of slant you have going there!

..sounds like what happened to the head gasket in my wagon a while back.

Slap a new head gasket on and give it a go, you might be surprised and be back on the road before you know it...

Those engines are definately dry sumped with multiple scavenge locations.

I didnt build these engines, those modifications are not legal in the local state competetions. Im not a supercharger expert but I believe those are weiand blowers.

are the engines tilted there to keep the carbies level and the whole setup more compact? or is it to not disturb the centre of balance? looks really weird!

and i still reckon change the headgasket and then try it - it's only a cupla hours of your time and it may save you more time / headaches / money later on.

and yes, i thought about an SR20 too for mine. LOTS OF ROOM!!!!
