I've recently inherited a datto 180b from my nana. Its in awesome condition. Everything's original and it looks great. But i would like to put some more power into it. I love turbo's and i looked into it and thought that a ca18det might be a good choice. My problem is i don't know much about cars, and i'd like to know what other mods have to be done to fit the engine and to compensate for the massive power increase. Any help would be great. Thanks[/code]

Try doing a search first mate.

What Tazholio said. To start you will need a brake upgrade and diff upgrade.
Do a search mate. There are kits you can by and the conversion has been done many times. Make up a budget and then double it before you start. That way we won't see another project for sale. It will cost anywhere between 5-10k depending on what work you can do yourself, engine prices, parts prices etc and all the little stuff you will forget. Plus the pain and suffering and beer.

There's a good writeup on cost of fitting a CA18DET to a 1600 here http://www.turbophile.com/technical/con ... costs.html

ultimate low cost, low attention datto.

should be a VERY straight forward swap, but i think the tailshaft will need mods.

a search will reveal HEAPS of info.

Its going to cost alot of money and take alot of time. Trust me, projects are hard work, you are better off going the route of pimping it out, or L20 twin webers kind of mod, thats a $1k conversion VS 10k conversion.
